There have been a ridiculous number of spammers over the last couple of days, we've been playing whack-a-mole behind the scenes only it's not fun.

Could it be possible that any new member has a seven day waiting period before posting?

I've just had a look at the forum options, there doesn't seem to be one for enforcing a waiting period, however there is one to require new user registrations to be approved by a moderator before they're allowed to post. I'll message the other team members and see if this is something we want to switch on.

Sounds good even if extra admin but perhaps less than having to delete spam posts and block the bad guys.

Especially if any approval process is unhurried.

OK, I've turned on manual approval for new accounts on a trial basis, let's see if it helps to keep the site clean.

VPNs would be the problem, but I've seen a few IPs crop up repeatedly so have banned those IPs. Fingers crossed.

Is not the VPN problem, it a random proxy IP number keeps changing in the proxy DNS settings.
