It's high gloss black - like No 10 Downing Street

I couldn't recall the color of the PM's door and thought it might be vintage MG green.

When I was in HS there was a men's clothing store which carried what I considered to be representative of British clothing. They taught me to tie a bow tie. Professionally I wore bow ties often. Bow ties are practical. Once speaking to a pediatrician he said he wore them because he could not drag them through a dirty diaper during an examination as he might with a long tie. I liked them because they stayed out of my food spills and such.

It's rare to see them now apart from in formal wear for dinners etc. I get the practical of them though. It saves you having to tuck it away in between your shirt buttons all the time. Tiea are becoming less and less used for work here too IMO. Depends on your job really

I wore tattersall shirts with striped ties and often no jacket in the humidity of Summer. It was a blend that I equate with British style. I often found bow ties and oxford cloth shirts at the local Goodwill store in affluent areas of the city...LOL!!

I have a friend in Tampa who tours Goodwill stores looking for English clothes, including overcoats and heavy brown leather brogues, that is his style. The clothes have often been donated by the families of English retirees, now passed, who sought the Florida sun and took with them everything they owned.

Funny how life turns out.

Yes, the heavy brogues!! Like cordovan shell Florsheim Imperials? I had a pair.

I found a very nice houndstooth Harris Tweed on eBay for $40 from the American brand Orvis. I used to be told by the former spouse that just because something was a good price did not necessitate me buying it.

No… “chitty , chitty, bang bang” is from a classic movie I only know about, Never really enjoyed country music, and besides I’m deaf could really grasp the music at all.
