I've just finished Deutschland 83 and Deutschland 89 (Deutschland 83 season 2), which are pretty good, a touch of The Americans (way less realistic) with a dash of Derrick (mustard green wallpaper on the walls...)
"Deutschland 89" is actually season 3; season 2 is called, as one might expect, "Deutschland 86". The first season is outstanding (for a German-made TV show, anyway), the third one is also quite good. I didn't much care for the second one, though. I had high hopes after the first one, but it felt awkwardly contrived and I didn't make it past episode 2 or so.

Recently, I looked at lots of lists of 'Best Shows of the 2000s' on various websites. As I result of that I sought out and binged the whole of Deadwood in about 2 weeks.

Man, that was a good show. Also, having watched it I notice how deep it sunk its roots into pop culture - there are Deadwood references everywhere!

My mistake.
Actually, I am still waiting for season 3 to be completely broadcast (only 5 episodes so far on Swiss TV).
The beginning of season 2 was not very encouraging indeed, but it gets better later (action moves back to Europe and East/West Berlin).

Sky Atlantics Raised by Wolves. A really interesting Sci Fi series.
The first two episodes make a great movie. After that, it unfortunately becomes increasingly stupid, and at the end, they're just trowing lots of stuff at the wall in a very "Lost"-like way (as in, let's introduce many different hints and see what we can maybe do with some of them as we go along).

Thanks for that...I won't bother with any more episodes. I'm going to watch Mary Poppins Christmas Day, how does that end?

Mary is attacked by a mob of zombies who chew her head off in a dark alley. Then Superman flies in to save the day. While recovering from the Zombie attack, she meets Count Dracula and they walk off into the sunset hand in hand. Sorry. Should have mentioned "spoiler alert".

Oz is a great show, I loved it. Oz is the show that started HBO's reign of "sick shows." Tom Fontana knows his TV, Homicide is another classic show and the one you can thank for the likes of The Corner and The Wire.
mate oz was sick, im surprised they got away with half the stuff on there, wouldnt be able to get away with it now for sure

the wire was good but it got to a point where it got really repetitive with the storyline imo

Not how I imagined it. I'll give it a go.
