I find the whole situation laughable when you can travel on a commercial flight and carry up to 100ml in hand luggage, plus more in checked. On an aircraft such as an A380, you could effectively have 400+ passengers, each being an explosive risk. What am I missing with regard to postal services refusing to carry such items?

It’s laughable simply with the amount of alcohol on board for human consumption, never mind what’s squirrelled away in cases.

The fact is you can have 1 person to 1 bottle on a flight in your example whereas a postie can have 400 bottles to 1 person.
Ie the focus on something going wrong is greater with more people, hence ability to control is greater for 1:1.
Furthermore, they check your luggage so ‘know’ that a perfume is a perfume, whereas a sealed box labelled for perfumes may not contain that, or conversely something not labelled correctly isn’t obviously a perfume so may be mishandled.

True. Tends to be a little less flammable I guess... maybe you could get more perfume onboard by saying you’re going to drink it?

‘A’ plane crash (singular)? It’s been a few as well as boats going down. The MH370 was carrying lithium ion batteries.

Limited quantities have been fairly stagnant for flammable liquids anyway, which is fortunate in a way as there aren’t much in the way of drastic measures.

There was definitely one, from Yemen to Dubai I think that sparked the change in the industry, I am sure more boats have been lost to Pistachio nuts than Lithium batteries.

Perfume is never going to catch fire, it will soak in to the packaging if broken. Of course it will burn if the plane/boat is already on fire.

The issue is with the carriers own policies for aftershave, they just don't want to carry it, probably makes their insurance a lot cheaper.

Another point raised, for DG flammable liquids shipments they’re supposed to have enough absorbent material to hold the capacity of liquid in the consignment. Ie, it shouldn’t really soak into the box but what’s in the box. The issue is Perfume is still a flammable goods, so there’s the potential for it to catch fire (but yes, as you say there needs to be an ignition source).

And again, a great point. Why risk the cost of a plane to carry some smellies when you can just turn it down and save the space for something else you know how to deal with? More and more carriers are adverse to shipping flammable liquids as a rule than before. That’s not to say they’re not out there but there we go! the best bet would be to find one to ship a number of boxes of LTD QTY perfumes/aftershaves/etc. across and distribute it from there.

Edit: fun fact, did you know they put DG in the hold compartments of planes? Can be real nasty stuff - oxidising agents, flammable gas cylinders, flammable liquids, you name it! What happens if it leaks? Don’t worry, it’s sitting on top of our suitcases! ever wonder why some luggage goes ‘missing’?

Shipping suspension and orders going missing is one thing. Not responding to customers is a big no no. Hope you get a response and the refund.

I had two orders with TOTC in last 4 months.
The first one - from May 25th (ground shipping, no tracking) arrived 2 months later. In that time I exchanged numerous emails with Carmine about the shipment, I know he had many issues with lots of orders being held, misplaced etc plus the alcohol shipments ban and so on so forth. He said he has tons of emails and he would always reply with a delay. Or after 2-3 of my emails. If I knew in June it will take that long, and with no tracking which is a huge risk, I would never do another order.
Still, the exclusive BM Seville in Reserve base was too good to miss out and I ordered it on 6th of June. Sometime during July Carmine said to me he's not sure will he even be doing any international shipments, even advised using shipito (which costs a lot and makes in not affordable).... Anyway, I got an email on July 30 that my order is sent. Since I paid air shipping, not ground, I expected it to arrive sooner than 2 months. It hasn't arrived.

TOTC, unfortunately, has a lot of issues with international orders and sadly since there is no tracking, no alcohol, no quick delivery and with a rather high price of the air delivery I don't think I will be buying from them anytime soon.

I guess we can only hope one of the European dealers will decide to fill the gap. Every time I visit TotC I start to salivate.

I really want to get my hands on Maol Grooming and APR products.
