It is curious how we react to creams and the like, even more so when one application has a bad reaction and the next is fine. I have only had one problem with a moisturiser which produced the opposite of the required effect, my skin went red within an hour, then hot and then cracked like a dried up river bed. I put some E45 on and two days later I was ok.I have only had one TOBS cream & it was the sandalwood one. The very first shave with it I had a skin reaction, it felt like sunburn within a couple of minutes of applying it & I had to wash it off immediately, wherever it had touched my face my skin was bright red.
I left the tub for a few months and scraped all the top of the exposed soap away & gave it a retry & never had any problems with it after that. I did finish the whole tub but I wouldn't re-buy that particular one, not because of the reaction but because I didn't like their take on their sandalwood fragrance. (Proraso Red is what I am comparing & that is a much nicer sandalwood to my nose)
No issues in performance as well here. So do you think all of them are quite soft and get a bit dehydraded with time even closed in the tub?I have found that with mine. I have some which are quite old. However I use them like a soft soap with a synthetic brush. No difference in performance
That has happened with tubs of all my creams...no matter the manufacturer.I have never seen it in the 'tubed' offerings. Interestingly there is never a best by date ......just an indication of use within once opened. No issues in performance as well here. I have a lot of creams in tube and some in tubs which are in my den like 2y. None dried. My tubs are from executive shaving, menrock, sveyn forkbeard all the some soft as the first day I bought them. That's why I wondered why my peppermint tobs is the hardest cream I have. Must be sitting like 5y+ in amazon warehouse before sold if it dried. Or the specific scent is just harderI suppose the difference between a tube of shave cream and a tub is that there is no air space under the cap on the tube but there is under the lid of a tub. With a tub that likely means it will dry out the contents.

Never had a modern tube of shave cream dry out on me but I have had tubs of shave cream get dryer with age. TBS Maca Root and LEA are some of those tubs but had been been around longer than 2 years in the house. If you are going to get shave cream dry out it most likely will be in a tub that has sat for a longish time unused. Just think what happens to a partial can of paint if left too long.I have a lot of creams in tube and some in tubs which are in my den like 2y. None dried.
