Hot off the press......

After last rugby training day a hot bath ensued...blah blah, soak, moan and relax.

Well I tried the OC today with a new Astra blade and my stork handle with the usual Wickhams Citrus Musk soap and Shavemac tsr brush...

We know that I am of Italian persuasion but I change my mind about OCs. This one is very, I mean, very smooth. I was a bit careful on a 3 pass shave but it was a great shave with no irritation at all as confirmed my the absence of any sting from the Wickhams AS. I did have to tread carefully as I thought it could nick me.

I will try again tomorrow and see where we get to but my eyes have been opened up further to which I say thank you and my bank manager does not in any way thank you...
Great to hear that you enjoyed the OC. I find 2 passes more than enough, re growth is slower too whilst leaving the skin looking and feeling good :)

Thanks Nishy, My usual routine is WTG then ATG and a touch up if required when using the S1 or timeless scalloped in .68 with a voskhod blade, But to be fair I was enjoying the shave and being very tentative! Might try a voskhod blade tomorrow with the OC and see where we get too!

Vokshod is a good option, I like an Astra SP as well.

Well what a difference a blade makes..... tried the OC and scalloped cap with a new Voskhod blade and had a remarkable 2.5 pass shave. Smooth, no weepers and you would have not been able to strop a razor on my face due to the BBS finish!

Tomorrow will try the OC base plate and polished cap to see if there is any difference.

Not sure this could be an every day razor for me but with reduced blade gap then maybe!!!

Please forgive me for hijacking this thread slightly @Godfather but is it me or does 1912 "Citrus Musk" smell exactly like DR Harris "Arlington"?
Great soap, great razor and great picture! Cheers:thumbsup:

Arlington was a lot lighter and fresher for me, I prefer citrus musk scent wise though, for the evening.
You're right Nishy..Citrus Musk is a lot stronger, definitely (Arlington lighter)..just had a smell of both..very similar DNA, though I would agree I prefer Citrus Musk.

Definitely similar to my nose too. I like Arlington for the day and citrus musk for the evening. Citrus musk also pairs well with TdH, which is a bonus for me :)

Very True Nishy! I still like Classic 24 the best..and for me Windsor is the best Harris scent which is a dead ringer for Terre d'hermès Phenomenal scent!! :)

So onto the last shave with the Timeless OC.

Used TOOBS Aloe Vera cream today as I know it is a great performer.

Noting really to add from yesterday's shave. Maybe a bit smoother as the Voskhod blade had been used once before. Not sure if there is any noticeable difference between the scalloped cap and plain cap. Purely on gut feel it would be the scalloped....

My conclusions on the OC baseplate is that it did give me a very smooth shave but I was apprehensive in using it, might be better in the .68 blade gap for me but and a big but.... the best shave I have ever had with an OC razor. I don't want to say it but you guys were right to advise me to give it a go. A remarkable razor.

Tomorrow will try the SB again with a new Voskhod blade and plain cap to see where we go but my gut feeling is to stay with my .68 scalloped unless there is an OC available on BST..
