Timeless Comes Out With A Titanium !

Interesting. As I have the SS OC in both 0.68 and 0.95 gaps, I was thinking what TT version I should get to actually have a step change, and not just the same razor, if it makes sense. From what you are saying the TT SB 0.95 would feel a bit like a different razor, so would make sense to have alongside the SS....
Honest truth my friend, give me a couple of weeks. I need to properly appreciate angle, pressure, blade and software that will best represent this razor and thus provide clear opinions/synopsis. The only thing that keeps resonating in my mind is the wow factor I had with the SS OC was present only with the SB titanium (both at 0.95mm). But again this was the first shave and also without a mirror.

I should also add, as it's just smacked me in my face, that the titanium SB was my third pass, so very little to cut after the 2 passes with the OC.

Second shave with the TT. OK so a mirror made all the difference as expected. I love this razor.

The matt finish, whilst knowing your holding a titanium razor, adds to the industrial nature and image. As mentioned before it is finished beautifully. The reduced weight let's the razor glide with ease around the face. Tolerances tighter and the head less cumbersome. I didn't find the SS OC cumbersome, however, having now used the titanium, I would not pick up the SS first. So perhaps I just prefer a lighter razor in this case. The SS version is louder and deeper sounding.

OC teeth are no longer scrapey. My angle and pressure were initially incorrect. The finish leaves a smooth experience on the skin. This perception may have been further improved with the smoother Astra blade as opposed to the earlier Nacet. The SB is quieter than the OC, it glides effortlessly and is a little less efficient. But it should be and I'm understanding the optimum pressure with each use. I'm very impressed with this razor.

I would place this razor above two giants in my collection. Firstly the 0.95 OC is my preference over the Wolfman 0.74mm OC. This is down to its functionality; audio feedback, face feel and efficiency. The Wolfman is no slouch but it isn't this comfortable, perhaps equally as efficient.

The SB is on par with my PILS, the face feel is more comfortable if that's possible with respect to the PILS. It is slightly less efficient but it's miniscule. It has very little resistance which the PILS has more of.

A worthy razor, should be given its price but as far as my verdict. Misson accomplished Timeless and Matt. Well done!

Fantastic assessment @Nishy and very helpful it is too.

I have one question though. From the pictures, the titanium doesn't 'look'* as good as the stainless steel. What is your objective opinion on this having held the two materials in your own hands? Cheers

*.. and I want to emphasise the word 'look'.

Hey Nico the stainless steel looks better IMO. It is a mental issue whereby I want to believe the titanium looks better or holds 'that mystique' it doesn't, it just costs more. However, functionally titanium is a better shaver and it is perfectly finished. I must also emphasise that I prefer polished to matt finishes. The only other difference is in the cutting sounds. Titanium is a zip type noise, where as stainless pings stubble off.

@Nishy I am leaning towards the OC with .95 gap and smooth cap as that is my favourite set up with the Stainless. I like David and yourself also favour the .95 OC in Stainless, so given that you both give similar feedback on the performance of the OC Titanium makes this my prefered base plate. The smooth cap just looks good with the OC baseplate IMO. Ultimately, I would like the .68 gap OC, as well, for those morning's when I prefer a milder shave experience..Tempted to chance my arm and ask for both. Think of all the money I'd save on those additional charges lol.

Makes sense.

I keep contemplating, am I learning to love the razor as opposed to it feeling amazing on its maiden run, as was the case with the SS OC. Is this down to having already experienced and owned the OC in SS before using the TT OC? Or is this simply because I prefer the look and added weight/heft of the SS version? It isn't an easy assessment in my mind. Throw in the fact that my impressions are only after my second use of the TT. The titanium does offer tighter tolerances but it's hardly noticeable let alone needed after the SS. The reduced weight does make it more manoeuvrable and easier to use. But you really have to weigh up the cost and advantages for yourself.

As there was talk of developments down the line one of which might be a blade gap in between the current two I thought I might ask the question directly to Timeless.
To his credit Matt replied very quickly, unfortunately they have no plans to do another gap

I think if it was down to just down to just my head @Nishy I would leave getting a Titanium version, after all I have quite an extensive Timeless collection already which gives me many options in terms of shaving experience. So, in terms of differences, we are talking about different and subtle shades of very good. However, my less rational heart has been telling me for a while to add a Titanium to my collection. Not a must have, but I would certainly be delighted to own one nonetheless. That said, I am sure that you have a few "irons in the fire" that are more than likely to divert my attention elsewhere lol.

It's definitely a hard choice. Being a better shaver IMO is paramount and the titanium tips it. Well worth a try. Look forward to hearing your thoughts if purchased :)
