Completed The General - Brass

Hi again chaps, second shave under on belt with the General Brass and my comments from before still run true. 3 pass BBS in such smooth comfort it was just a dream. How they have got the cap angle, gap, blade exposure, pitch and everything else so on point is sheer magic. In the brass the General allows you to set it up and allow the weight to plough through the growth of whisker. Over all its a lovely razor and I don't think there will ever be a razor to dethrone the General from the category of FAC SE style blades IMO. My two grips are still the brass smell and the fact brass is such a good conductor that doing a hot water rinse means I have to blow on the razor before a pass so I don't brand myself lol.
Having seen the steel version of the General in the final legs of QA checks before release I think I will hold out to buying a brass. I'm also wondering if they would go down the titanium route. The way this razor shaves and the way Colonial keep their prices so low that i'd defo love to see what they'd price that at. I'll be talking the brass for one more shave this week and boxing up to move on.

And with sadness in my heart i've shaved my last shave with the Brass General and there is nothing more I can say that i've not said other than lovely lovely razor. Cleaned and boxing up as I type. Ready to post out to @Nick_S tomorrow. Its been a pleasure and while I have my aluminium General i'll hold fast grabbing another version based on another metal. Well until they produce a titanium one lol.

The SS version is coming in at around $60 in the US, not tempted by that one?

I am but I know i'll kick myself if they bring out a titanium. The aluminium is magic and a lil more weight would complete it for me. I prefer lighter razors. The Brass is heavy for me but it shaves like a General which is just the best. So the missing piece of the puzzle for me would be a titanium General with a pivoting head lol

I have my Aluminium head on a slim stainless handle and it is perfect.. can't wait for the stainless - and I might have something up my sleeve

The General arrived today, and might I say that @Mr Bigmem needs to be assigned to whatever department looks after the Crown Jewels Took a while to get into the box I'll get my first shave under the belt with it tomorrow morning, complete with a video. It's certainly a weighty razor, something I like.

Second shave with The General was another resounding success. Very smooth shave, performed with a sample of Vretos Mandarin & Orange (huge thank @Mr Bigmem for that, it's a great soap) with no drama. The brass smell was reduced today, possibly because I knew it was coming, possibly because the orange scent overpowered it...who knows.
