JING Tea do little samplers ... they're expensive, mind.
Simpli-Special do taster packs:
http://www.simpli-special.co.uk/taster-packs-43-c.asp ... and pretty much all their loose leaf in 20g taster sachets.
There's a good number of vendors that do small sizes, say 25g ...
They say 5g per cup (with 3-5 infusions). Personally, I like 10g (about 1 tablespoon) in a cup-sized jug to steep then strained into cup.
There's an eye-watering variety of tea out there! You could approach it like we do blades or razors or soaps ... I like this one ... I like this one better, I don't like that one as much and eventually you'll land of a small set of favourites. You could just take the rest of your life to drink tea and take the slow road. I did something in the middle, landed on some lucky favourites first, tried one or two others and confirmed my favourites. Now I just enjoy whatever comes along ... I made up a massive hit-list, but didn't get too far down it. It remains something I can dip back into whenever I fancy something new.
Meanwhile, I know what I like and have landed on a good handful of real favourites.
Enjoy
