Tabac is awesome. Slick and dense lather. Its only real weakness is how divisive the scent is. I like it though.

If you can believe it, I haven't tried Tabac.

The smell is quite offensive.

It took me years to try Tabac.
It's what my father uses and I didn't want to smell like my dad. As much as I love him. No offence, dad.
Now I use nothing else in winter. And winter runs from September until May in the UK.
Now I smell like my dad. So what?

Regarding the Fine/Tabac thing...Fine soaps are made by the same company that makes De Vegulde Hand shaving soaps in the Netherlands, AFAIK. They also make Van De Lovett soaps.
De Vergulde Hand soaps are great performers (and great value) but they are none tallow when compared to Fine.
Fine are similar to Tabac, though not the same..both excellent soaps, but like many great tallow offerings they can feel "drying" if you under hydrate them.

It is a great performer but it just depends how much you hate the scent. Good luck!

Why bother if you have already sniffed it and don't like the scent? OTH if you are saying you have only read of the scent being offensive I guess there is only one way to find out for yourself.

Bob, I have bought the stick in its plastic container, sniffed it and put it aside!

No point trying it if the smell puts ya off. I tried to persevere once with something that smelled strongly of almonds. It was a great soap but I was having a strong bad memory association with that particular smell and couldn't put up with it, so I piffed it on. I think it was Cella or Vitos.

Just used Tabac for the first time in months and, goddamn, it’s a good soap! Slick as hell, superb performer and I like the scent just fine.

I love Tabac performance and scent. I have a soap stick and a large bottle of aftershave. Ne plus ultra!

Tabac is my go-to, fuss-free soap. It's also the first soap to use with any new hardware.

Speaking of which. Tried the Yates razor for the first time today. Marvelous shave. Partially due to the proper software choice

Yes, and I like the scent. Somehow reminds me of those auld hairdressers I've visited with my grandfather. Makes me feel cozy.

Last year I planned to use Tabac every day for a month. I wasn’t a fan of the scent to start with.

After about 5 or 6 shaves I’d started to like the scent, or maybe just appreciate it, unfortunately I developed a sensitivity to the soap and had to stop using it
