The user on B&B who started the thread said the new one is horrible.

I'm not surprised tbh, it's not that they replaced tallow for something else, but they dropped it and coconut oil for just lauric acid.

I’ll fess up. I have three pucks and three refills with a new shave stick that I haven’t started to use. The soap has the ring of death, but still has plenty for use.
I don’t have spare freezer like the guy on B&B, so I guess these will do. I will stick with SV after those are finished.

Yes, we do need more input from different sources to get a better idea of the situation. Unfortunately too many times in the past when there has been a reformulation the new version has been subpar.

I don't think the issue is that they have dropped tallow, it's more so they have dropped tallow and coconut oil, both of which have been replaced by just lauric acid.

I agree tallow alone doesn't make a good soap, look at the new C&S reformulation for example.

yet to try out tabac, regret not getting it when @Boycie83 posted it on amazon because im pretty sure that was the cheapest price its ever been on amazon at the time

Ah man, this is a gut punch. My trusty soap! I have a stash but not more than a few years worth. Looks like I will have to start looking for an alternative in the meantime. Very regrettable.

Having heard murmurs of reformulation some months ago, I stocked up. I believe I have 18 sticks on hand, so just shy of 2 kilos.

One current jar (around 20% left), one refill puck and one stick refill. Not that much given that Tabac is my paragon amongst traditional tallow soaps. So three more refill pucks are on the way. The local seller claims they are tallow-based (and the last in their inventory). They sounded really surprised about all the fuss.
