This week i will be running the Folk Soap through its paces with some Badger brushes.
I will complete my normal routine consisting of dipping the tips of a dry brush, a quick flick and straight onto the soap, i usually load up for around 15 to 20 seconds, then start building the lather on the face, once the beard area is covered and "painted" evenly, i open the brush up on the chin, dip the tips and continue building / painting until i get a consistency i like, i usually complete this process about 3 times, all the while lifting and softening the stubble.
Today the soap picked up easily and my lather went to plan, for me the scent opens up in use, although it is not as strong as my usual Stirling Bay Rum which is heavily scented, it is a lighter, sweeter fragrance which is quite nice.
The soap produced enough good stable lather for 3 full passes, providing plenty of protection giving me a no issue shave.
For the post shave i completed a cold water rinse, a pat dry then give the test bottle a good shake, as i have a couple of pipettes i used one of these to apply the aftershave to the hand, i did not find it oily at all, using it sparingly i managed to cover the shaved area with 2 small applications. The scent is definitely Bay Rum, as others have said it is not clove heavy but a lighter sweeter version. I finished off with the DR Harris splash which is also stronger than the trial balm.
The soap is a really good performer and I think it is a good version for someone who is not too sure if they would like the scent as its not a heavy, dark version.
So far so good.
Enjoy your day all.
