Soap: LJDJ Spanish Fern (Duck Fat)
Razor: Yaqi Final Cut Adjustable (v2)
Blade: Winner by Gillette
Brush: Alexander Simpson Trafalgar T3 26mm
Aftershave: Mennen Skin Bracer
A special one for me gents. Bloomed it with hot water, doesn't need heavy load, but my hand couldn't stop..
"An English-inspired personal fragrance. An aroma for any time of the year. It has a citrus output of orange and lemon. Green notes of rosemary, coriander and geranium, a touch of cloves to give it a spicy point and a background of woods and resins to give it depth with pine, cedar, sandalwood, oak moss, patchouli, labdanum and as a culmination the clean aroma of the talcum powder."
Very bright scent, reminded me of these candies with aniseed that I was eating when I was a kid, but it's more than that. Very strong, fills the bathroom and remains strong during and after the shave. Doesn't burn the skin, or sting.
The proto lather was pasty as hell, I added slowly water with the sprayer, and got a very heavy, shiny, low structure lather with super high density.
The razor was always on #6 for the 2 passes (WTG, ATG & Touch ups). The blade was a bit dull, tried to pull my hairs instead of slicing them, but the soap was very protective, with a very hydrated, stable lather, that make many of the US artisans sweat. The slickness was amazing with tons of residual slickness too, but you must over hydrate this Spanish beast first. The lasting power of the lather and the persistence, were off the charts and I ended up with a BBS shave, without the need of overshaving as I like to do often.
Even with the wrong blade loaded, the results were fantastic. This man knows how to make soap. BUT .....
I also have the Space Apple (duck fat) and the new Vetonia base ("Spicier Than You Think" Set, a strange scent, not very nice).
This Vetonia base is a good soap, but Spanish Fern & Space Apple are way better performers for me, with better lather consistency. I mean, he tried to make it better, but he stepped back a bit with this new one (imho).
Anyway, I enjoyed so much this shave, that I'm planning to get another soap of his older bases (only).
Post shave was phenomenal, rich and heavy, but not oily or greasy. During the winter here in Greece will help for sure. The Mennen Skin Bracer didn't sting at all, because I put it on when the skin was damp, so the alcohol was kinda deactivated.
10/10 if you ask me, congratulations to Joserra for this wonderful soap.
