Excellent Shave today.
First time for me with the Black Tip and I wasn’t holding out much hope as iv read a few reviews that weren’t so favourable but i guess the reviews were much about the cheaper materials used in comparison with the other superspeeds.
Thankfully for me i loved it with no issues what so ever.
Paired with the wilkinson sword for me it was the dream team.
Anyone not used the HWF really should get a hold of some which sells for £3.80 in the uk.
A real worthy soap for any Den.

Preshave:
Hot water rinse
Brush: Golddachs Pure Badger miniature
Razor: Gillette Rocket Flare Tip
Blade: Sainsbury's [Dorco] (4)
Soap/Cream: Arko stick
Aftershave Balm: Palmolive Sensitive
Aftershave: M&S Aqua Nuit

Firstly, a big thank you to our Brian @culcreuch for his generous gift of Palmolive, Arko and Derby soap sticks. You're an absolute gentleman and you've made this old man very happy. I owe you one (well, three actually).

My first use of Arko soap and I'm aware its scent divides opinion, descriptions ranging from lemon to Turkish urinal (with apologies to our Turkish friends). I personally found it ok and thought I detected a trace of lemon scent when hydrated. It lathered readily, producing creamy, slick lather which lubricated the combo to a satisfying BBS+, 9.5/10. I think this one's earned a place in the soap collection.

Brian's "Stand on the stick to squash it and you can fit it into a container of your choice without grating" tip worked like a charm. I don't think I'll ever grate another stick in future.

Regards,
Chris

This razor is a zamak head and stainless steel handle. Delivered from China for the princely sum of £4.19 incl. VAT. The plating on the head is a gunmetal colour and appears to be good quality. It clamps the blade well and aligned correctly first time. It appears to be an AS-D2 clone when looking at it.

That is where the similarity ends though. This razor has much more blade feel. Can't complain for £4 and it does the job. I'll end up PIFfing this at some point though. The handle is great. Really deep knurling - loads of grip. No worries about it sliding from my fingers.

Reason:- Shave over looks

Tony, can you say a little bit more about the battle? Was the winner smoother or more efficient? I have the brass General and the Vector but not tried the v2 General.

Both razors shaved very similar to me, the quandary for me was the General felt smoother, however, originally I thought it did not look as good. The Vector on the otherhand to me looked better, was more nimble although the shave could be a little harsh at times.
Each time one or the other was used it went to the top of the tree. Then a WTB advert and a want to reduce the collection made my decision.
I now actually prefer the Generals looks, blade loading and head size.
It really is a YMMV scenario though.
No help whatsoever, I know:o_o:

Lambda Athena
Gillette Super Stainless (Russian)
Yaqi Tuxedo 28mm
Faena vegan Philosoap
Lucky Tiger toner
Frederic Malle Musk Ravageur

First shave with the Lambda.

A well-built tool with great attention to detail. The feeling and result is reminiscent of that of the R41 however lacking the harshness it brings out in some. Regardless of the aesthetic aspect, which is a matter of personal taste, I find the ancient Greek amphora-shaped handle disproportionately large and heavy compared to the head. The center of gravity is too close to the head, thus not facilitating maneuverability unless you have hands like oars. Anyway, Athena is too lovely not to get used to it.

An excellent and sweet shave.
