An extremely enjoyable, smooth shave this afternoon.
First time out for the No. 58 and it was a great experience.
It carries on the trend of mild yet efficient Gilletes with no blade feel to speak of but pronounced feedback and very efficient hair removal.
Solid doesn't even begin to describe the build of this razor, much like the Aristocrat, the tolerances are extremely tight, making for a remarkably well built feeling razor, which is only enhanced by the silky smooth rocket style TTO mechanism and positive grip provided by the deep knurling.
The balance is also fantastic, making zero pressure passes very easy.
The blade used is now at the point where I'd be expecting to bank it, but still effortlessly went through two days of growth in this razor with no sign of dulling or a dip in smoothness.
Whether that translates to the subsequent shave remains to be seen.
This is also my first time using the Waitrose own brand of unscented glycerin soap as a preshave and as expected, it performed just as well as the much more expensive Neutrogena bar.
And also lathered noticeably better, providing a great level of additional slickness for effortless razor glide in concert with Stirlings always excellent barber shop.
Finished off with Stirlings matching balm to round off a shave which was a pleasure from start to finish.
Have a great weekend!
