(Face & Head Shave)
A new shave set up to start the first weekend of May 2026..Maiden face shave with the Chinese R41 clone Head which was gifted to me as Christmas present from a work mate of which I've just got round to trying it out.
The verdict?...Let me start by saying both the base plate & top cap are noticeably thinner than my official Mühle R41 2013)making it sing with good audible feedback of which I like telling me that the blade is working well with the razor.
I fitted the clone head to my spare Mühle R41 stock handle to make it equal in length, and near in weight, checking that the top cap was aligned with the bottom plate fitted together without any movement, and the blade gap was equal, the overall quality finish & build is more than passible with no visible burrs on the top cap centre pin tread or base plate obviously it doesn't have the same quality standard as my official Mühle R41,but I didn't expect it to be, as I have stated overall it's acceptable, and fit for purpose... One thing I like about the vast majority of my other Chinese clone razors is the top cap and base plates are slightly bigger in length a great design which covers the blade ends making it a great safety feature IMHO, reducing the risk of catching under the nose and ear lobes especially with head shaving, and clamping down on the blade ends more to reduce blade chatter.
Like any mass produced cloned or authentic products, there is always an element of the risk of the buyer/owner getting a dud due to it's mass production and the lack of QC fortunately, this wasn't the case for me. To say how long the razor head will last, who knows? but I have quite a few Chinese clone razors of which I've had in my humble collection for some years and all are still fit for purpose.
I started the shave with my normal approach when shaving with my Mühle R41, and after only few seconds into the shave with the R41 clone, it felt incredibly smooth yet efficient with no harshness the blade feels slightly less assertive than my official Mühle R41, It's smoothness is incredibly good which is something I like very much and seems well matched paired together with the Dorco prime platinum.
All in all, I'm very impressed with the Chinese R41 clone, obviously it's far to early to give a true opinion on it as it's only my first shave with it. Overall though, it's left me with a very close comfortable impressive face shave without any shaving blood massacre, what more could I ask for.
I look forward to alternate the Chinese R41 clone razor for my face shaves throughout the remainder of the month to familiarise myself to It's shaving characteristics.
The Baili BD 191 "Tech Type Head Clone" provided me with a mild close comfortable head shave and like the Baili BD 177 paired up with the Dorco prime platinum wonderfully.
Finishing the shave off with a few small squirts of Milton-Lloyd Essentials No10 Bergamot, Neroli & Musk EdP to the pulse points.
My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.
Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.
