Friday 24th (Artisan) April...
Digging around in my soap box, my hand came across this sweating lump of soap I had left unwrapped and packaged which my wife got for free from someone she knows at work when I first started wet shaving. It's made by a lady who has a very small operation locally although shaving soaps aren't really her thing.
I used it once and thought ok well it works, left it and moved on.
After trying it today 12 months further along my shaving journey, it's a surprisingly good soap. I applied it like a shave stick and it came together very quickly with the synthetic brush. Very thick lather for a vegetal and gave a beautiful shave. It doesn't have a scent now although I think it may have been peppermint when it arrived.
A lovely surprise to find something you don't realise you have. Enjoy your weekend...

It was the first shave with the Kent. And despite loading a bit longer, it was not long enough. The Kent did just not load enough material. I did load about 30% longer
Thank God Ethos has very good emergency glide capability so the shave was very smooth.
Tomorrow I will try the BK8. And load double as long as normal. Should get me enough material for a more creamy lather.

First outing with the Bayonetta and I’m most impressed. Very agile, narrow-headed beastie that’s super easy to wield and quietly efficient around the the old chops. Tactile grip and for once I don’t have the urge to polish the bejesus out of it like I did with the R6S. In fact, I liked it so much that I nabbed one from Connaught. £36 for a CNC razor in solid brass that also provides a great shave is crazy good value. I know some don’t like the smell of raw brass underneath their beak but I’m not one. Same price as an R89 for goodness’s sake.
And I popped my Aventus cherry too. Whilst I’ll never be able to afford the original fragrance, there are plenty of dupes around so I can enjoy this delightful scent. Great to have it in a wonderfully performing soap like this P&B.
Very much looking forward to my next rasp with the Bayonetta.

The Samuel Salter jar is important since I built the lather on the soap and the spooned it out with the brush and worked it into my beard. I did two passes and it was enough for a run into CVS (chemist) in Inwood for my prescription. The Aqua Velva sport sooths as well as smells really good but only for about an hour. Bod Man fresh guy provided back up.

I purchased this razor here in China for fifty quid, very nice manufacture, heft and quality of finish - but it just isn't for me.
Or may be I have not found yet the right blade to pair it with.
With some razors you get lucky, with others you just don't.
The Portuguese lanolin-based shave cream brings back an era and an aura that don't exist no more.
However there are equally capable contemporary soaps.
So you keep the good memories of all the years that will not come back, and you carry on...
I found that Ach De Brito Lavanda had a similar performance to this one. Reminded me scent - wise the Seville from Barrister & Mann.
