Monday Night...

The last shave I had when I arrived on holiday wasn't great. The water here is much harder than at home and my face really suffered especially after the alcohol splash. Wasn't looking forward to the shave this evening but I think it may be a really important shave on my learning journey.

Switched to stone cold water and, after using a new Aveeno moisturiser which seems to suit me better than the CeraVe I've been using, my face has never felt better after a shave.

This P&B Bluebird soap is rapidly rising in my estimation. It's starting to reliably give one of the best shaves for glide and post shave feel of the soaps I have. The BIC #2 blade was smooth again tonight but was outstanding in this flat-bottomed Tech. The knurling pattern on this handle cannot be made slippery and this soap would test it too. It's like the handle has been covered in sandpaper. No alcohol splash tonight - only cold water.

10/10 shave tonight but extremely pleased with how I changed things up to fix things from Saturday night. Music for tonight's shave was the Anvil Chorus/Verdi and Largo al Factotum/Rossini.

Goodnight...

I do love a hearty rendition of the Largo Al Factotum!

Friday Afternoon Shave…

Gillette Flat bottomed Tech with BIC#4
Omega Colosseum Synthetic brush
P&B Bluebird Soap
Clubman Pinaud Cognac Neat Splash

A very quick clean up as we’re busy packing and half my shaving stuff got swept away while I was shaving. It’s been really nice this week to focus on two vintage Gillette Techs - a flat bottomed and a fat handled - and two soaps - P&B Bluebird and Moon Soaps Warmest Regards. It’s let me have a really good look at them both. I haven’t been able to separate the razors as I’ve found them both to work very well with the BIC blade which today hit #4. The soaps were also close but I think my personal preference is the P&B. I think it edged it on slickness but they are both fabulous soaps to have. I’ve only had synthetic brushes this week and both the Omega Colosseum and the Yaqi Sagrada Familia are a doddle to use and mantain while away.

All shaves this week have been cold water shaves after the first shave which is the first time I have done this to any great extent.

Four great shaves with some super products.

Enjoy your evening…

Fryday February Twentieth, Twenty Twenty-Six's Shave Of The Day was okie dokie...

PreShave: "should be ok to get a shave done, give it a try"
Lather Gear: Yaqi 24mm Synth Mountain Lake whipped up St James of London Lavender & Geranium cream
Razor&Blade: 1974 Gillette #84 Super Adjustable loaded with Shark SCSS 2 buffing WTG(7) AXTG(7)
AfterShave Gear: Omega Alum Stick then Stirling's Deep Blue Sea PSB

the SJoL cream lather disappeared but most the slickness was still there... this Shark's teeth didn't get replaced quick enough and the trouble spots had heavier scruff so we added the AXTG buffing... liking the Sharks... partly cause of their name(our fave water dwellers) and they haven't given us any problems... we are smoof and sniffing good...

Have a Good Weekend and SOTDs ATGSrs...

Your use of the plural “we” reminded me of a Lone Ranger and Tonto conversation, “the Lone Ranger, surrounded by hostile forces, says, "Looks like we're in trouble," to which Tonto replies, "What you mean 'we,' white man?".

Old school one and done

Merkur 33c razor
Dollar General stainless blade
Barbasol shaving foam
Barbasol aftershave

Hot shower prep with Dial antibacterial soap

This was a traditional single pass shave from when I was just starting out shaving. Barbasol just doesn't give the cushion or slickness for multi-pass shaves plus i just didn't have the time. Tomorrow should be a more relaxed day.
