Do you have favourites or do you find they all feel pretty similar despite the loft differences?

I may have to get one some time. I don't have a synthetic anymore as I sold them. They look lovely.Nope all of these brushes are just how they came, I never specified any lofts.

What size Duke is it? Just trying to gauge the size of the QE2?I have 2 Simpsons brushes, maybe 3..........a Duke in best.......a QE2 in manchurian this brush has never been used or got wet.........and the 3rd one is an old hog bristle brush that may or may not be a Simpsons........the jury was out.......good brush though.View attachment 75895

It's a Duke 3.............What size Duke is it? Just trying to gauge the size of the QE2?![]()

I have a QEII too in the same condition, they have the coin in the bottom. I think there pretty hard to come by now, especially in new condition so look after yours.I have 2 Simpsons brushes, maybe 3..........a Duke in best.......a QE2 in manchurian this brush has never been used or got wet.........and the 3rd one is an old hog bristle brush that may or may not be a Simpsons........the jury was out.......good brush though.View attachment 75895
Wow, I only own one CH2 synth and having all kinds of trouble with it's stiffness. Been smashing it against the bathroom sink in the "Shave Cave" when wet and warm right before using, seems to help a bit, but really hope it breaks in soon - much more smashing I feel like I'm going to begin to lose bristles.I cant help myself from keep adding to these.

I find my Chubby 2 synthetic a great brush but the Omega Evo even better...a case of different preferences me thinks. That said it is clear from pictures and posts that the variability in Simpson's premier synthetic is wide in terms of loft and bulb shape. Mine is set at 54mm and splays readily, but nothing like a Synbad, it also "relaxed" after a few uses. Hope the brush comes good for you...Decided to treat myself to a Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic. I'll tell you what Fellas, I can easily see why someone who wanted to get into synthetic brushes and wanted to buy what they deemed to be a 'quality' brush instead of a Chinese offering would go for one of these and being as I am massively disappointed, thus going back to Badger.
a couple of points.
The knot is wonky, miss shaped and not even round.
It is so springy, like the early cheapo knots that it has zero splay and will only paint.
It is a seriously poor Synthetic.
I have read the knot can be loosened with very hot water and a damn good mashing. I will try it. If it doesn't work it's getting replaced with a real synthetic knot such as a Synbad or 2bed by Ap.
This for my money is a serious case of paying for the name and getting not a lot back.View attachment 77150
Basically the same complaints that initial users had from way back when. Buggered mine up trying to get the knot out so reknotted the handle with a Maggards SHD 2 band fan badger knot. Happy as a clam now.Decided to treat myself to a Simpsons Chubby 2 Synthetic. I have just had mine on the digital vernier and it comes in at 48mm so obviously they have massive quality control issues. Whoever is setting the knots or indeed drilling the bore hole wants a slap.I find my Chubby 2 synthetic a great brush but the Omega Evo even better...a case of different preferences me thinks.
