Simple food pleasures

Cumberland sausage, it’s only available actually in Cumberland (as it was) though if you want the proper stuff. Seemingly anywhere else they just roll up a sausage and call it good.

I’d love a bacon sandwich right now. White bread (not too fancy), grilled back bacon, no butter or margarine but dipped in the drippings, brown sauce. With a mug of tea (white, no sugar).

Another vote for cheese and good bread. Very fond of a white stilton, also strong cheddar, brie and camembert.

Marmite is essential, and unsalted butter every time.

Nice plate of poutine poutine - Bing for one. A nice fresh Calabrese bun with butter, shaved Tuscon ham, thin sliced Genoa salami, thin sliced smoke Provolone cheese sandwiched between the bun halves. Lastly beans and weiners with buttered toast.

Can't beat a good cheese board with a dram of whisky or a glass of red. I also love a Ploughmans lunch, we have a really nice cafe in the local village that does one and I often indulge whilst working from home.

A good ploughmans lunch takes some beating after you have been on a good country walk with your dog and you end up at a pub that serves up a good ploughmans.

For people outside the UK they may not know what goes into a ploughmans, the one below would be a good one to share, it is just missing a good chunk of bread and personally I would pass on the coleslaw and ditch the lemon water for a bottle of something good.

The pickle goes perfectly with everything on the platter, looking at it now is making me hungry. i have relatives in Portugal, you would not believe how many pork pies and scotch eggs I have to take when we go visit. You know how it is, when you cannot have something the desire increases tenfold.
