Definitely well rounded, the sides comfortably fit into the handle even at the lowest 46mm loft. I honestly can't see the sides being worn by the mechanism. It does stop twisting at the lowest loft and the pin mechanism works well, little to no gap around the base of the knot.

One thing I'm not experienced with is the knot itself. I take out the entire knot to clean and dry, is this ok? Base is glued as with all knots, but with other brushes you never see the glued base when cleaning the brush post use.

Also, all of my higher end brushes are fan shaped so I am truly in love with this brush!!

I have to be honest and say I prefer bulb knots, but a bulb at 26/48mm would be ridiculous

So far looking very promising. I wonder if an o-ring could be fitted into a groove around the interior to prevent twisting during use. Perhaps a slight amount of friction is all that would be needed. It might also make the whole mechanism feel more solid.

Now I have seen this I love it. My favourite 2 brushes are both Shavemacs. They need a friend.

Apologies chaps went to start a shave video and the brush mechanism has stopped working. The base handle has unscrewed too :p

Will be sending it back to Bernd for further analysis. It was awesome whilst it lasted. Hopefully the second prototype will be better.

I can't say if I would join in, but the concept of the VLB always was intriguing to say the least. I have enough brushes to equate just about any scenario like the VLB would, but not in one brush. I'll definitely follow the progress!

Gents unfortunately Bernd is in Hospital awaiting surgery, so the brush has understandably been put on hold. He did mention that he has an idea on how to improve the brush. I'm sure we all wish him well in his recovery and I will keep you posted once I hear back from Bernd.
