For the odd simplistic form the Wilkinson Sword boar brush handle has I do find it very comfortable to use. If it was made from a more attractive material it might just look good even.

Regarding the chosen knot, this is something we'll have to see.
A couple of shaves should provide a fairly clear indication on where the chosen bristles and knot stand.

As far as the handle is concerned, seriously, when I saw post #1 in the thread I thought Shavemac equipped this prototype brush with a mock one. Very hard for me to believe a company with so nice and functional handles would put out in the market its first synth model on what essentially is a Wilkinson handle copy.

The present red handle indicated in post #1 lacks flair, is too simplistic and aesthetically incomplete to bear the name Shavemac on it, even if the knot it carries is synthetic (i.e. cheaper than a knot with badger hair). Strictly speaking, the knot should be of Shavemac quality, the handle should be one of the handles that are widely used for Shavemac's badger hair knots, and the final product (the brush) should reflect the Shavemac design, craftsmanship and performance from top to bottom.

Have you actually used the Wilkinson brush to know how functional or not the handle is?

I have mixed feelings on the handle shape. I would guess the handle is very ergonomic (assuming dry handle and hands). I am ok with the basic handle shape - the picture and handle finish look more like a low quality clone.

I also noticed the loft was somewhat high.

I am excited to try the knot with hopes it is good. The handle has no relevance to me at this point and while I agree i'd not buy a brush with that handle. We know shavemac have some very tasty handles. So a good synthetic will make Bernd's collection a considerable purchase for me seeing as I don't use natural hair.

From recollection the Wilkinson Sword handle has a fully rounded edge. This particular handle has a flattened portion for better ergonomics, hard to picture. I still don't think the handle is great, but is functional.
