If you find R1 comparable to R41, I wonder how you would rate the H1
I thought this too, I find the R2 comfortable for a daily shave.
I was trying to give a few examples of blade feel and aggressive. Which is difficult when you don’t know what the other person has used before.
I found the R1 had a lot of blade feel and on the aggressive side (for me) for a so called “regular“/middle of the road razor. I thought the CG LVL2 was very aggressive and not far off the R41. Never tried the H plates.

@Rowlers How you can use the R2 on a daily basis is beyond me.

I think this should read

Yes I have and they are miles apart. The CG LvL2 has A LOT more blade feel and a lot more aggressive. The CG is closer to the R41 or the ATT S2 where’s the GC 0.84 is along the lines of the ATT M1 or R1.

Hopefully those razors are a good reference? If not let me know?
Thanks for that. This is interesting.
The ATT R1 was my daily for a while. I agree it has lots of blade feel, but I don't find it aggressive at all. It does bite every once in a while, don't know why.
I absolutely hated the R41 and find it ridiculously aggressive.
I have the GC .84 and find it efficient and smooth. I find it likes a more steep angle than most DEs.
I am considering the CG when and if they ever offer the ss version (I know, they promise next month, but so they did last month, and early 2019 in 2018, and ...). As most I am after a smooth shave, perfect bbs all over and zero irritation, nick or cuts.

Not sure what I'm doing wrong but the GC is giving me a hard time!

Requires a minimum of 3 passes for DFS and always leaves me with weepers and irritation on my neck... Such things are usually caused by improper angle, applying too much pressure or unsuitable blade choice but I've now experimented with all these and just can't crack it. Literally getting some of my worst DE shaves ever with this razor :(

Will persevere...

I had a couple subpar shaves, then I figured the angle was too steep for the razor. I use a Ti handle. I used the original maybe twice and it was out.

Finally sussed it!

I think as I'm not used to using stainless razors I had to adjust to the weight of the damn thing... Tried using negative pressure the past 2 shaves and it cuts far better with no irritation. I'm still not blown away by it yet, no game changed here unfortunately but its all down to taste as ever.
