Pass Around Razorine

If I walk from the post office where they were posted to where I live, that would take me just under three hours.
Royal Mail have decided they can't deliver across that vast distance in one day.
They call it 'First Class Service'

Here (Chichester) I receive post sent from Southampton using 2nd class the very next day and that's 35 miles.

Our postman is a cheeky lad. Shows up 5 hours later than usual.
And that...

...is not my signature. He just shoved it through the letterbox.

I will however not deny that I have both razors safely in my hands.

My postman used to be a mate of my eldest daughter's boyfriend. Handy sometimes as he used to hide bits for me and sign for them on my behalf when out. That said , it got dodgy when I came home one day to find the COMPLETE ORIGINAL deeds to my house left in a plant pot at the front door.

First impressions:

I like the looks of them, the brass is much nicer than the chrome. There seemed to be a little bit of patina on it already, but a soft toothbrush that probably still contains traces of Autosol and the ultrasonic cleaner did a very good job.
Blade loading is awkward but manageable.

First shave - with a fresh Polsilver blade, Tabac soap, Mühle 25mm synthetic brush.
OMG, where is my muscle memory gone?
I really have to concentrate hard and think about how to hold the razor at which angle to move it in what direction to shave in my normally automatic pattern. It's like a mixture of a DE, a Kamisori and a Durham Duplex. Very confusing.
So confusing that on the second pass I give myself a nice cut near the left ear that definitely required a plaster.
I finished the remainder of the shave with my Eversharp Fashion Razor.
I'm not going to give up, but I need to concentrate harder next time.

I didn't cut myself first time....but I had issues as well. Initially I thought I was going to have to paracord the handle for grip. From the second shave on-wards....all was OK and I won't have to go down that route

OK... well... ermmm... I don't like it.
I had two more attempts at shaving with this razor and both times I gave up on the second pass when moving my arm around at odd angles to get the head of the razor where I wanted it. I have no time for this. I continued with my Lady's Fashion Razor and was happy.
The other issue I have with this razor is the head geometry. Or to be more specific, the lack thereof:

The flimsy DE blade is just held between two plates. No tension, no curvature - nothing.
This thing is not a DE with the handle sticking out weirdly, it's a kamisori shavette.
And I don't like shavettes. I don't like the half DE ones and I don't like this double-edged one.
Now, if you like shavettes or want to give them a go, this would be a great razor.
It is much better looking than your average plasticky shavette, especially the brass version.
But for me - from blade loading to shaving - I can't see any advantage over a regular hoe-style razor.
Also, my Ronson "Shaves and Sharpens" has arrived and I can't see the Razorine getting any more opportunities to change my mind. So, who is next, @Looney12345 ?

With all that you have said, I would like to drop out of this pass around please. I think it would be too easy to cut myself and that could be very messy (anti clotting meds .....).

I will be disappointed if people don't try this. Yes it is a shavette. There were no claims it was anything else. A little bit of change of approach and the patience to adapt to the razor are required to give it a fair shot. I use shavettes frequently and this is one of the best. From my experience it is difficult to cut yourself in use. Well worth the try

I’m still up for it.

I’ve never got on with straights or Feather AC razors so I’m not overly sure as to how much will like this razor or not.

I’m working on the premise of ‘what’s the worse than can happen’ and am looking forward to trying it out.

For me .....its the most idiot proof shavette I have ever used. Just don't try to treat it like a DE razor.

My main issue with it is .....once you dial it in there is little feedback. It is like using a squeegee. Rub it across your face and the stubble disappears.
