Potatoes - Especially Idaho Potatoes

This post will probably get me drummed out of the ATG Foodie Club

My problem is that I like potatoes, I have yet to find any form of cooked potatoes that I don't like, I even like to buy different varieties just because I can. A few years ago I bought some Idaho potatoes, just two potatoes cost me £2, okay they were as big as your hand, but at the time I could buy 56lbs of Lincolnshire Reds direct from the farmer for £3, keep 10lbs for myself and give the rest away.

These Idaho potatoes, I had them baked in the oven, were in a different league, an amazing taste, very hard to find in England obviously but if you can give them a try.

I haven't bought instant potatoes for 40 years, remember Smash?

But, just out of curiosity, if you see these Idahoan potatoes on the shelves, give them a try, you might be surprised, even if you only serve it up to the grandchildren with sausages

Ever used a cast iron skillet to fry potatoes? I have a cover for the skillet I use.
A cast iron skillet would be good.

I mashed some potatoes and then fried them in a Tefal frying pan, this was an attempt to crisp up the potatoes a little. The pan was ruined and the non sticking coating failed, the induction hob was not even on a high heat setting. The pan was four months old, the Tefal two year warranty wasn't worth a bean.

Eta cast iron skillet now on order

I really like all types and culinary forms of potatoes as well! Never met a bad one - but a baked potato filled with butter and moist beef brisket and BBQ sauce, onions and chives..... f'ing devine! For a Texan at least.....

Same, love the taters. My wife does red skinned potatoes: cut up, light salt, pepper, copious amounts of garlic and very light on the oil. Bake in the oven—bam! No such thing as too much garlic. No such thing as too much garlic. Unless you’re on the receiving end of the ole breath vapors…
