Herein lies the problem, I might contract an infection with few complications or symptoms. Another person, possibly immune compromised, might contract the virus from me and die.
There is a tendency to use past events to predict future outcomes. It is a common occurrence indicating a lack of critical thinking.

It makes no sense to utter the words that no vaccine guarantees immunity as nobody ever said it did. That is except for the misinformed.
With the rush back to the idea of the good old days of no vaccines as becoming attractive, I now merely get my yearly shots for my own good. You simply can't worry about the good of others.
I remember the days of no vaccines and all the misery that came with it. There were needless deaths and/or life long side effects for those who got infected. I worked with people who had deformed legs for the rest of their lives from Polio. The local museum even has an iron lung as a reminder of that time. People with TB were placed in isolation hospitals to either recover or die there. Never mind the time before antibiotics when people died from simple infections. Yea, the good old days ...... not.
This is what happens individual rights become detached and supersede the idea of individual responsibility for others in their community/country. You can't fight that type of retrograde progress.
