There is nothing like reading a newspaper in the old style, ie print form. The electronic format does nothing for me, other than hurt my eyes. In fact I find I read a newspaper less thoroughly when it’s elctronic. There is no pleasure in the electronic format; I find it sterile and makes reading the paper a chore and not a pleasure.
Gayle and I had home delivery of the local print paper for some 35 years. She enjoyed it more than I did. Tbh, I only looked at the sports section. Their news coverage felt like the “News Reader’s Digest.” However I’ve also long subscribed to two major dailies and a weekly (with assorted daily updates). With the ipad’s ability to change font sizes and brighten the screen, and zip all around the world instantly, I’m grooving on my news e-subscriptions. But I still keep a quarterly music journal delivered to the house.

Some parents ! Parked up on my driveway, two kids appear around 10-11 years old. One boy and a girl. The boy said can you help us ? I asked what with. The lad points at the girl and said my friend has a bad back. So I say well she needs to speak to mum about it. Mum has but she doesn’t have any plasters is the reply. Well I can’t help I explain and you need to speak to mum. Off they trot. Think mum needs to 1, get plasters and 2 teach them not to talk to strangers and ask them For that sort of help. An absolute safeguarding nightmare ! I feel sorry if she has a problem but it’s not for me to look at her back. Just gob smacked !

Maybe one or all of them are developmentally delayed?
Possibility but rings more alarm bells for their safety. Naturally being a parent all the parental instincts kick in but you have to drop them to stay safe yourself. Do feel for the two but it’s really best left. I did say to them they shouldn’t speak to strangers but who knows if they listened.

I’ve had to resort to shaving every other day. For the last +50 years since I started shaving I’ve shaved every day except when too ill to or in the bush with no conveniences. Recently, however, my facial skin has become more sensitive and when I shave every day I develop a rash along my lower right cheek starting at the jaw bone. However, when I shave every other day I don’t develop a rash or any tenderness. I’ve tried different shaving products, razors and blades, but with no difference. As we age our skin does change and thins; I’ll be 77 in November so that could explain it. Fortunately, I’m blonde with a reddish tinge to my facial hair, so missing a day’s shaving is hardly visible, but I can feel it.

I have always found shaving every other day gives me better results. But, ever after just one day it itches.

Did a few Motorway miles at Weekend. Appalled at number of vehicles staying in outside lane in some instances with inadequate distance between vehicles, then plenty of second lane hoggers too, along at 55-60.
Came home today, and used a route using A road for the best part of the journey - a much better experience.

Same issues here in Canada. It boils down to a decline in civility overall, a me and only me attitude, and lax (or nil) enforcement by the authorities.
