I followed that advice too, my life may be richer but I only read the posts of five people, I read more road signs than that.
That unsolicited advice came from a member I had not conversed with before which highlights the problem is more widespread that I had thought. If banning in not a possibility, sticking them on everyone's ignore list serves the same purpose.

I hear cicadas all the time, a life of loud tools, cars, music, guns, etc., have taken their toll on my hearing,... ironically, I can't hear actual cicadas, or crickets, just the ones in my head.

I barely heard them but seen dead ones everywhere... most of my deafness was from shows/concerts and being next to amps/speakers...

Here it is a sign of disapproval but originally it was a naval sign of distress.
I think that's largely an American thing. Intentionally inverting the union flag would be too subtle for it to be an effective distress signal. Also there are many national flags that would look the exactly same if inverted, England, Scotland, France, Italy, Japan, Thailand, Nigeria, Switzerland...

It is also a Canadian thing for some unknow reason. Apparently flag N over Flag C when flown is one of the official international distress signals. There are many other ways internationally recognized to signal distress.

That sounds like a good TV quiz show question.

Flags, T shirts, bumper stickers, license plates, automobiles, clothing, caps, hair/no hair styles, and yard signs are used here to say, this is to which I relate or belong. The yellow license plate representing the Gadsden Flag is popular, Don't Thread on Me.
