I'll attempt to replate my Karve, will show pictures when the job is done.
The other unplated brass razors I have, an Ever Ready and an Old Type, smell the same to me. And I have to put my nose right up to them (and the Karve) to get anything.Sir, thanks for sharing. Just out of curiosity. I suppose you have in your den two or more brassed razors. Your skin oil and your ability to smell blood are one, the same. Do you smell your razors exactly the same way? I compare my Gillette RFB and CG antique brass and Gillette smells much more metallic. Thank you.
Halvor, well done and you won't be disappointed, I'm sure. The F plate is a tad less efficient than the level 3, but is smoother and more user-friendly.I went straight in for the kill. Karve with F plate and 3’’ handle on order.
Thanks primarily to you, David @Optometrist, taking the CG Lvl3 I got from you as a common reference point.
Oh I needed another razor, of course I did! My bank account was in dire need of flushing, too! Reasonably priced, though, the Karve, and low postage.

Not to worry. You offered your opinion, unsolicited; I take full responsibility for my own actionsGiving this advice, perhaps I should now run, before you both receive them.![]()
Maybe you have corrosive water...I keep reading about the brass Karve developing a patina with use and on another forum, someone mentioned his was showing change after just one use.
I've now used my F plate, seven times, and my D plate, twice, so my handle and top cap have seen nine uses. Everything still looks the same as when new. Not sure if I should consider this as fortunate, so far, or unlucky.
