I found mine quite pungent especially when wet, put my teeth on edge and when two shavers sell the same razor for the same reason there has to be something in it.

It's chemical interaction with skin oils, not the brass itself. As they say , your skin oils may vary. It's related to our ability to smell blood, for which people have varying sensitivity. There are studies. I think the mods will be ok with a non shaving link:

Sir, thanks for sharing. Just out of curiosity. I suppose you have in your den two or more brassed razors. Your skin oil and your ability to smell blood are one, the same. Do you smell your razors exactly the same way? I compare my Gillette RFB and CG antique brass and Gillette smells much more metallic. Thank you.
