Nice...I haven't tried a head shave with the Karve yet but will do so later this week.

What about patina? How do you keep 'safe' / clean yours?
Thanks.
When I saw Chris' own Karve on Instagram on May 9, 10 (karveshavingco) I knew I wanted his patina. Beautiful golden brown all over. His advice is to take the razor apart after every shave, warm water rinse and towel dry. I'll keep the Karve stainless steel 'safe'/clean once he eventually gets around to those...hopefully!

Well, I can see now why the Karve razor has been receiving such excellent reviews. My first use, this morning, was with the D plate. I'll use the more aggressive F plate for my next shave, however, here are my initial thoughts.
This razor has a very nice heft and one notices immediately on loading a blade, the quality of the thread. It's so precise and smooth, I'd say it's on par with that of a Wolfman.
I'm going to compare the D plate with my other favourite DE razors, namely Timeless 0.95 OC, Wolfman 0.74 OC and Blackbird SB. The Karve has the smoothness and blade feel(or lack of) of the Timeless, but doesn't quite match its efficiencyt. This is an extremely smooth shaver and I believe it would be ideal in daily use. The efficiency is more along the lines of the Wolfman, possibly even the 0.67 gap version. The Blackbird is more efficient, IMO.
I am very impressed after only first use. I opted for the 3.5 inch handle and now wish I had gone with the 3 inch option. No big deal, though. That can be ordered later if I want to.
Looking forward to using the F plate now.

Following on from first use of the D plate, yesterday, today was the F plate's opportunity to shine, or otherwise. And, I tell you, it does not disappoint.

I prefer razors that are efficient in two passes and I will not keep any razor that fails to meet this requirement.
There is a very obvious step up in efficiency from the D plate, however, the razor remains smooth throughout with very little blade feel when compared with the likes of, let's say, the Charcoal Goods level 3. That razor had me shaving on tenterhooks. The F plate is more akin to the Timeless 0.95 OC in feel and safety. I'd put the F plate efficiency between the Timeless and the CG.

Of the two plates, I prefer the F, but as a daily shaver, I need more use to see it is compatible with that routine. The D plate is certainly an acceptable daily shaver. With that said, I'm wondering now if the E plate would completely meet both requirements. I need to buy the 3 inch handle at some point, anyway and may well just add the E plate out of curiosity. All in good time, though.

After 5 shaves (4 with C and 1 with D) I can say the Karve is the best DE I’ve used. It’s incredibly smooth but very efficient even with C plate.

Usually I shave every other day because I have sensitive skin and my beard doesn’t grows too fast. I never achieved daily shaving.
With the Karve I did it and my skin is good.
I love the C plate to daily shaves but need to test the D plate more.

Karve is awesome.

My second shave using the D plate and this is undoubtedly an ideal daily shaver, for me. It doesn't shave as close in two passes as my Blackbird, but certainly performs the task with total smoothness and zero irritation.

I wrote, yesterday, that I felt the F plate was slightly more aggressive than my Timeless 0.95 OC. It certainly gave me a close, two-pass shave along similar lines to the Timeless, but, interestingly, I had more growth this morning than I was expecting, and certainly more than 24 hours after using the Timeless. As a daily shaver, this is no bad thing as I usually need to skip a day after using the Timeless. I just need to use the F plate now for a few consecutive days to see if that plate is comfortable for doing so.

Maybe the extra vitamin D from yesterday’s sunshine boosted your beard growth?
