Today I have received Karve razor with D, E, F plates. I bought this razor upon enthusiastic reviews of my friends (especially @vtmax , thank you my friend) from another forum. Now, after first shave can only say, WOW. I was impressed so much only after first shave with my Wolfman or Tradere OC 1 gen. I was waiting for this razor approx month but it worth it. I appreciate Chris name on packing (it is not anonymous) as well as "personal" thanks. I think we are with Chris "friends" now and I really want to support his business. Razor itself is technically great, piece of art. I can feel Chris is focused on details and he really loves his works. I loaded plate "D" first and it was like silk. Actually I thought, it can´t be efficient (of course, I was wrong) and loaded plate "F". Plate "D" is great daily shaver for me. I am not interested in plate "C" and milder, just due to my personal preferences. Plate "F" is considerably more aggressive, but I don´t think plate "F" gives me closer shave than plate "D" and be sure, plate "F" is not overly aggressive. For those who like Muhle R41 2011 or iKon Tech will be even "F" plate too mild … Daily shaver is "D" , but when I skip one or more day I will use "F" plate with pleasure and I am sure it gives me great, irritation free shave. One of best razors what I tried.
My bad is, I chosen 4 inch handle. To this razor fits much more better 3 or if you like longer handles or you have bigger hands 3,5 inch handles. Razor is better balanced with shorter handles. Metal smell of this razor is very little. I noticed after first use some sign of use. I don´t know why, but on baseplate are now more darker spots. When I consider reasonable buying price, it is one of best razors on market. Looking forward to buy Karve razor in SS and Ti. It could be then (IMHO or for me) best razor on market. This short review is based on only one shave and in future can vary, but I think, it could be even better.
I'm curious, do you still stand by that the D plate is just as efficient as the F, only with less blade feel. I can't make up my mind what between the D,E and F plates and would really like to avoid getting all 3

Plate "D" gives me BBS in three passes as well as plate "F". I can feel new stubble after 6-7 hours in case of plate "D" and the same in case of "F". "D" is more forgiving and "F" has more blade feel. Now I use my Karve with "E" plate (exclusively) on UFO TiTan Fine and this combo gives me boring perfectly results :giggle:. On the other hand I found I don´t like smell of brass and prefer razors without patina.

I had my first shave with the C plate yesterday morning. It is as described a daily shaver. It struggled slightly on 2 days growth when the E didn't. The E didn't feel rough as a daily shaver either. So my preference currently is with the E plate. In terms of blade feel the difference is minimal. I still need more shaves with the C to fully appreciate pressure and angle so things could change. Also to add, my stubble is significant today where the E plate shaved closer with longer lasting results.

Following more than a couple of dozen shaves with the D and F plates, I find I can shave with either on a daily basis. The F plate has slightly more blade feel and a closer cut on two passes. After, say, 8 hours, certainly more growth felt following D plate use, but we're not talking huge differences. My preference is with the F plate although I could quite happily live with the D.

This is what I am finding. Plate E seems to be the most suitable, for me.

Nice reports. I am really enjoying the D plate for daily shaves right now. For heavy growth F on first pass followed up with D or C for subsequent passes is really nice. Kind of using it like the Rockwell without the flip but a different plate. Yes it takes an extra second or two compared to the 6S but still quick enough!

I keep going back to the ATT H1 in my mind, whenever I use the E plate. It has similar efficiency, however the shave itself feels different and the razor head is not so bulbous. I think what makes this razor stand apart is how the blade feels on the face, plenty of feedback (as well as audio), which aids in correcting angle and pressure. IMO it is by no means a boring carefree shave, yet it doesn't threaten to bite either. Very nice indeed. A different feel to the BBS-1 which is smoother and a little more efficient (hard to believe but it is for me) yet it still sits amongst my best shavers.

I have been using the BC for a while now and have found the D plate to be the plate for me. Anything up from there is too aggressive for me. The C plate is just so smooth and reassuring and the B plate my lower limit. You can understand the problems of razor manufacturers when there are so many users with different preferences. It’s good to see that Karve has done a very good job in meeting market expectations.

Halvor, well done and you won't be disappointed, I'm sure. The F plate is a tad less efficient than the level 3, but is smoother and more user-friendly.
First shave tells me the contrary: that the F plate is MORE efficient than CGLvl3, but I also get more blade feel with the Karve.

Another matter: I read the little note that came with the razor about it staining during transit. The top plate looked a little scruffy, but instead of the suggested tooth paste, I put a dab of Flitz on a cloth and rubbed gently away. Dang, something happened. Goodbye bead blast finish, welcome semi shiny! Finished with Cape Cod and another buff with a dry cloth. Should easily lend itself to high shine polish, based on how quickly this change occurred. Seems to have upped the glide relative to the blast finish too.
