New Mühle stainless steel razor 'Rocca'

Also a Newbie and had taught a three pass shave was Mandatory!, as well as getting a BBS. But now a good irritation free shave seems to satisfy me.
If I’m honest, at the moment, I am often sad after the third pass as it is over.
I have to wait at least another two days before I can shave again.

I do enjoy going for a BBS, but always allow my facial skin to have the last word.

Also, at the moment I do my third pass differently from the first two.
I apply some lather by fingertip, let’s say, to the right side of my neck, feel for any patches of stubble and it’s direction, then apply some by brush to the same area, shave it, then check by fingertip again (occasionally I have a little buff) then move to the left side of my neck and repeat. Then each cheek/ sideburn, then tache, then chin.

Each done as a separate patch, just to make sure I’m aware of the mapping of offending roughness.
Sometimes areas do not require it, but my neck and a line under my chin always require some buff (probably multidirectional stubble).

Another note. If I do shave on day two, often the WTG pass feels less of use and a little pointless.
I still do it though, but may experiment with this in a few months.

...received the new Rocca head from Muhle. It does shave slightly differently to the one I had before although visually I do not see much difference. It feels only a tad smoother but is less sensitive to pressure and consequently does not feel as if would bite as easily. It also has more auditory feedback. Despite the not insignificant problems Muhle has has with the Rocca, for me it shaves really well. I like the balance, it's voice and it's shave. It has the right amount of blade feel that I enjoy and it hits the sweet spot for me in terms of efficiency. I suspect there are many duff Rocca's out there but if you get a sorted one I can now understand why many like them...

I messed about with mine last night and kept swapping the blade head to head.
Jitters and jumps in the V2, but not so in the V3.
As yourself, I find the audio feedback amplified, sounds like you can hear each hair being cut.
The V3 comes down my face like a downhill skier, the V2 I think is on a stunt run.

A bit quiet here. So let's make so noice :)

So I have sold my Rocca. The reason was that in a weird way it was too rough. I think it was due to blade support..or due to the fact that support was missing somehow. The blade hangs too far from the center support.

I just got ATT H1 which has a kind of same efficiency and blade feel as Rocca but H1 does not seem rough. I am a bit surprised that some consider H1 very aggressive razor or near Muhle R41 level. Not even close in my opinion. ATT H1 takes the win over Rocca!
If you want a efficiency and smoothness try the ATT Windsor H plate

@Sausage How are you getting on with the H1 and R1 plates Sausage?
I tend to like aggressive razors like Blackland Blackbird and Dart. I also liked Rocca at first but it was just a little too rough for me..especially ATG pass.

ATT H1 is not so rough like Rocca was for me. Also I think Dart is a bit more aggressive than ATT H1.

With the ATT plates it was not love at first sight like it was with Blackland Blackbird which is so easy to shave with.
At first I thought that R1 plate was too mild. But I have learned to like it after all. I think I like H1 a bit more because I can feel the blade more which makes it easier to shave with. With mild blade like Voskhod it pairs nicely. R1 plate is so smooth that at first I used too much pressure and ended up with razor burn.

I really like the quality of these ATT plates. They look toolish and they just fit together perfectly. And the text on the base plates is special.

Damn what a messy writing I did :)

I see Mule have just released the Rocca Jet - an all black version. My mate @chops1967 has been waiting on this razor for almost a year now. I wonder if they've been tweaking it again in that time.

I think there has been a lot of tweaking, judging by my replacement head (V2 to V3) much smoother, no more skipping. The finish looks much sharper side by side. I hope your mate’s is to the same standard.

It is sexy looking razor but I am not volunteering to buy one :p:. I just calculated that I have spent about 1500 eur to razors in 2018:eek:. I think I am good now for a while. I have bought Blackbirds, Dart, ATT R1&H1, Timeless and just bought Rex. But to be honest I am STILL tempted to get Rocca again at some stage....

I will not buy Wolfman or Karve but Rocca ...maybe.
