New Mühle stainless steel razor 'Rocca'

Missoni

Fellow Traveller
We (well I at least) always assumed the hold ups and production stoppages with the Rocca were due to Muhle being unhappy with the cosmetics, the tool marks etc... It makes far more sense in hindsight that this is the issue they've been struggling with, users have been divided over this razor since it was first available, I wonder how many are out there, forgotten in a drawer or sold on as the owners think it a poor design?
...and such a long stoppage as well, if I recall correctly and I may not, they were unavailable for about 12 months...surprised that duff V3 heads are making it to market after the problems they encountered with the razors introduction. I can not understand why Muhlle would not ask me to return the old head, and lessen the reputational risk of having defective heads floating around...I sometimes forget though what a tiny niche interest shaving forums are, so will likely have minimal impact on their brand value...

I'd have a lot more respect for Muhle if they came out and openly said they messed this one up and would replace anybody's head with the latest attempt at no cost - as there must be many, many people who've bought this who don't frequent forums and realise there are bigger problems, and just written it off as a razor that's not for them, possibly to reside unused in a drawer somewhere.

This continual releasing of new versions, which still aren't right, is worse than the rubbishest dodgy kickstarter I've seen.

The fact that suppliers are promoting they have the 'latest v3' in stock is silly when there are still known/the same problems with this version (apologies to suppliers, but it's true).

I await the v4 in due course.

@Paul are you aware of these issues through all versions of the Rocca, or Mühle’s position on it, with regard to info to vendors?

Mühle were certainly going way down in my estimation, as the Rocca is my only experience with them.
Apart from the cosmetics, they nailed it with the V1 head, in my opinion. If they had just chrome plated that head, without further modifications, everything would be great. But my suspicion is that it would have been to expensive to produce, with the additional polishing and plating steps.

Weren't the blade pins/tabs/pillars in the top cap stuck on and fell off on this version though?

It's been a trainwreck start to finish.

It's funny, on one hand they try to portray a high end brand image, similar to Apple with their Bauhaus inspired clean lines and "less is more" ethos and yet on the other hand they are so worried about keeping the price of a razor below 100 Euros they will skip essential manufacturing processes [citation needed] and release a half baked product three times in a row. When you strip away the aesthetic, the glossy brochures, the whole "engineered in Germany" thing they are the same old DDR brush makers at heart

Connaught (if purchased from us) or Mühle UK will offer a replacement for any manufacturing defects. As this is the third tooling (at least) any errors should be minimal now.

I don't mean to bash Muhle and the Rocca, my frustration comes from the fact I've been very interested in these razors but can't make any sense about whether it's safe to buy one! I don't want to be the person left with a lemon which I couldn't even sell used because I don't sell on dodgy goods.

It would do Muhle so much good to communicate something about the issues and their stance on after-sales service. Anything less just means I'm never going to trust them with my money. I'd say 50%+ of the threads and videos I've looked at concerning the Rocca are discussions of problems and nobody has any straight answers.

On a positive note.
I used the ”contact” on the Mühle UK website and filled out the form, then set to taking the photos and making a coffee.
On returning to the iPad discovered a return email from Paul Chessel requesting photos had been sitting in my inbox for 45 mins. He must have replied instantly.
I’ve no idea what they are looking for in these images, so am not sure how it best needs to be photographed.
So I took what I assumed to be the problems and sent these.

Thank you Paul.
Just wondered if you had heard anything officially.

Good heavens that's much worse than mine  Paul is the same chap handling my query/complaint, speaking of which apparently my replacement is being dispatched today.

Rather embarrassingly they posted this 6-ish weeks ago

LOL!
I think they were a little preemptive with V3

Worse than yours in what way?
What are you looking at, which photo?

I’m still a bit unsure what they are looking for, just took photos where spacing looks wrong or edges don’t look flat or straight, where logic tells me they should be.......but I could be wrong.

Our top caps look similar but your base plate appears to have a large warp whereas mine is flat... I'll laugh my arse off if mine is correct and the replacement turns up identical
