Haven't forgotten to take the 'milder razor' pictures for you my friend, hoping to have some time this evening.I shall have a look when I can @Rowlers, might take a couple of days.
It didn’t help.Mate, if you haven't tried it yet then please let me save you the agony...
If it helps, I would have done exactly the same thingIt didn’t help.
Curiosity killed the cat.
Popped in a new Shark Super Stainless.
Rocca WTG pass, adjusted angles, super slow, no pressure - no weepers or irritation, but skipping blade, not a smooth pass.
Dropped the blade out, popped it in the Tech, re lathered from bowl for XTG pass, smooth as silk.
Didn’t bother with an ATG pass, I’m saving it for Saturday and didn’t want to risk agitation after the first pass.
So just DFS today.......it was hard not to go for it, I hope you appreciate the resolve required Lol
...At least you didn't get any weepers!

Exactly!it's the juddery motion of the head and complete lack of slickness that gets me, it's impossible to "glide" with it
WTG pass is easy. For me it was ATG pass when Rocca started to bite..I've been using my R95 with a Polsilver SI combination and have gotten nothing but smooth, BBS shaves with two WTG passes. I'm sympathetic for those who can't get on with this razor. To me, it's one of my favourites.
^ This. Mine struggles even XTG, I had to abandon it entirely in some areas and settle for buffing WTG.WTG pass is easy. For me it was ATG pass when Rocca started to bite..
Short strokes yes. I really "hate" the fact that so beautiful razor is so rough. Rocca is so damn sexy looking razor. I sold mine about a month ago and still keep thinking should I try the v3 too (I had v1 and v2...both are sold)...but after reading this thread I am disappointed that v3 is same old Rocca. At some point I thought that even after shaving with R41 I had less razor burn and pain than with Rocca.^ This. Used it again today (I'd gotten out of the habit of shaving daily but I'm trying to bring this thing to heel.) Back to the 7 o'Clock Yellow blade, I've come to the conclusion the sharper the better in this razor... Best shave with it yet but still terrible... I found the angle that works best for me is very shallow (same as you'd use with a Tech) and keep to short strokes, which minimizes the drag effect. But, as above it's still near useless for anything other than WTG.
No answer from Muhle yet after receiving my pictures, hopefully I'll hear something today as their customer support is usually first class.
That's the crazy thing, for a period I shaved daily with R41+Feather, no issues whatsoever. For me there is a fundamental flaw in the design of this razor, a real pity as it's beautiful as you say.At some point I thought that even after shaving with R41 I had less razor burn and pain than with Rocca.
