Chuffed to bits, Runner up in a writers competition organised by Harper Collins with the Guardian, you had to write an opening paragraph, minimum 100 words maximum 500, to a possible Crime novel, targeted at the teenage market, apparently Crime novels are popular with teens at school.

One winner, two runners up.

No Rolls Royce as a prize but good fun to take part.

The twins had a very close bond and when they were teased at school they decided to work together on their revenge. They invited the teaser to the abandoned farm where they had played many times before; a mile up the valley behind the school, to dig for treasure, they knew he couldn't resist. On arrival they went into an outbuilding, to find a spade they said. One twin lead the way, the other at the back. As the teaser bent down to pick up a spade, they brought an axe down on his head, he fell to the floor. They looked around and found some old rubbish bags, pushed and shoved until the body was inside and dragged the sacks just in front of the old farmhouse. They dug as deep as they could to hide the body but it didn't stop a stray dog from taking great interest in what they had buried.

Under a storm warning today through till sometime tomorrow. The wind is gusting 45 to 65 km/h and may get up to 80 km/h at times. Snow is falling with calls for 20 to 40 cm and up to 50 cm possible in some places. Snow may continue into Thursday with another 5 to 10 cm possible.

The falling snow and gusty winds makes visibility an issue as in just stay home if possible. My bet is that there will be quite a number of highway closures, vehicle accidents and likely a few deaths as a result.

Given all that, we are still not as bad off as the rest of Canada to the east and west of us. Ain't winter lovely!

Rural schools and rural school buses are cancelled due to the weather conditions. There has been the closure of a section of the Trans Canada Highway yesterday due to disabled transport trucks stuck on hills west of here. So far no deaths have been reported due to weather related accidents. Weather conditions appear to here into the weekend. Took a pass on going to our weekly coffee club meeting today. The fun continues.

Meanwhile, kids are probably fairly happy that they can be home and loiter about. :D
