Just had my ears hoovered. Nice lady removed quite a bit it seemed. Hopefully my hearing will improve a bit more.

If you are thinking of getting it done, I would recommend it, just in case.

You can purchase the equipment and do it yourself, which I have been doing for several years after having it done in my doctor's office. This is the type I purchased, Amazon.com : Earwax Removal Bottle - Manual Ear Wash System with 500ml Spray Bottle, Big Basin & 20 Reusable Soft Tips, Safe & Efficient Ear Cleaner Bottle w/Rigid Pipe & Flexible Tube for Personal or Family Use : Health & Household

I find I need to do this every six months. I notice that I need to when I can no longer hear the cuckoo clock sounding in the morning...LOL!!

Not the same thing, syringing is frowned upon these days I believe.

It is somewhat, but there are ones which spray toward the sides to be gentler on the ear drum.
I tend to use Otosan ear spray (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00DN9N13S) after every or every other shower (depends on how much time I have), leave it in for a minute or two and then use q-tips to remove the softened buildup. That said, it's for frequent maintenance, not for removing a lot of buildup.

What I linked is exactly what the doctor's office used. I did have the office here use a syringe to accomplish the same. If you have crusted and compacted old wax, some pressure is required. The chemical remedies never worked.

Back into the deep freeze this morning and more normal temps for this time of winter. At 0700 local it is -23 C/-10 F with a windchill factor of -36 C/-33 F. Only consolation is that it is colder in other parts of Canada.

wow... there was 40⁰F-ish(10C) here for a few days then went back to teens(-10C) and been dropping a few inches of cloud crap everyday... a low % today but we'll see... fortunately not as bad as canananada cold...
