Told the father the answer, he had another puzzle, (the boy wasn't around)

A father hit his son because he was drunk.

Who was drunk
__

I don't remember English lessons being this difficult.

Well, it’s all without context so you have a few options here. The pronoun “he” can refer to both, and it will be world knowledge and context that decide what is the best interpretation. The same holds for “his”: it will generally be interpreted as referring to the father, but given more context, it could easily be interpreted as referring to someone else.

Generally: the more you take sentences out of context and then ask to decide on their interpretation, the more problematic it’s going to get.

I feel for you but you just need to get acclimated to your new area. We are just starting to see those temperatures here and that is a sign even colder weather is coming. Every year it takes me a bit to get used to the colder temperatures come winter. Fun isn't it?

The tonight boss almost made the best roast beef dinner she ever had. The sirloin tip roast was a juicy pinkish red and sliced like butter with the knife, the mashed spuds seasoned with wasabi sauce were excellent as was the air fryer done asparagus and the gravy. Sadly she made the Yorkshire pudding with a store bought mix in stead of her usual home made ones. The store bought Yorkshire pudding mix ones smelt horrible and tasted even worse. I took one bit and spat it out into a napkin with the rest tossed into the garbage. Funny how an otherwise tip top meal can be brought down by one mistake.

I usually drink Tim Hortons fine grind dark roast coffee sweetened with Demerara brown sugar But decided to go with Tim Hortons fine grind medium roast French vanilla coffee for a change of pace. It was a good choice with a nice flavour sweetened with the same Demerara brown sugar. Timmies decaf is not too shabby either iirc. For me, nothing beats starting the day with a good cup of coffee to get off on the right foot.

I know what you mean, we don't do it any more but it used to be a pleasure to look forward to a large pot of percolated coffee as you read the Sunday paper with all its sections, some chocolate brioche and we are all sat round the kitchen table.

Sorry to hear that you gave up your coffee and chocolate brioche. I have never had a chocolate brioche but they sure do look tempting. I'll have to try them if I ever see them offered.

A sweet bread and made better with some dark chocolate, great with a strong coffee for breakfast, I think that the French even dunk them into the coffee before biting, and the Italians ( I have an Italian relative) make a point of calling at a bakery for a large bag of such things if they are going to someone's home on a Sunday morning, which seems like a very good idea to me. I have even been to Portuguese cafes mid morning, where everyone had the same order, an espresso and a pastel de nata, freshly baked on site.

Pastel de nata is another one I'll have to put on the list to try should I ever see one. You are a bad influence on my sweet tooth.
