Thank you that was a very good answer and much better than my first thought of 'either'.The father. If it was the son, there would be a semi colon, or even a new sentence, instead of a comma.

Well, it’s all without context so you have a few options here. The pronoun “he” can refer to both, and it will be world knowledge and context that decide what is the best interpretation. The same holds for “his”: it will generally be interpreted as referring to the father, but given more context, it could easily be interpreted as referring to someone else.Told the father the answer, he had another puzzle, (the boy wasn't around)
A father hit his son because he was drunk.

I don't remember English lessons being this difficult.
I feel for you but you just need to get acclimated to your new area. We are just starting to see those temperatures here and that is a sign even colder weather is coming. Every year it takes me a bit to get used to the colder temperatures come winter. Fun isn't it?so the weather in the new area to me has gotten colder than i've ever felt and i learned the other day the temps at night have been in the low negatives -4Freaking cold and set a new cold temp record for this area set in the 70s... and flurries every day odd to see a sun flurry...

I know what you mean, we don't do it any more but it used to be a pleasure to look forward to a large pot of percolated coffee as you read the Sunday paper with all its sections, some chocolate brioche and we are all sat round the kitchen table.I usually drink Tim Hortons fine grind dark roast coffee sweetened with Demerara brown sugar But decided to go with Tim Hortons fine grind medium roast French vanilla coffee for a change of pace. It was a good choice with a nice flavour sweetened with the same Demerara brown sugar. Timmies decaf is not too shabby either iirc. For me, nothing beats starting the day with a good cup of coffee to get off on the right foot.

Sorry to hear that you gave up your coffee and chocolate brioche. I have never had a chocolate brioche but they sure do look tempting. I'll have to try them if I ever see them offered.I know what you mean, we don't do it any more but it used to be a pleasure to look forward to a large pot of percolated coffee as you read the Sunday paper with all its sections, some chocolate brioche and we are all sat round the kitchen table.

A sweet bread and made better with some dark chocolate, great with a strong coffee for breakfast, I think that the French even dunk them into the coffee before biting, and the Italians ( I have an Italian relative) make a point of calling at a bakery for a large bag of such things if they are going to someone's home on a Sunday morning, which seems like a very good idea to me. I have even been to Portuguese cafes mid morning, where everyone had the same order, an espresso and a pastel de nata, freshly baked on site.Sorry to hear that you gave up your coffee and chocolate brioche. Pastel de nata is another one I'll have to put on the list to try should I ever see one. You are a bad influence on my sweet tooth.A sweet bread and made better with some dark chocolate, great with a strong coffee for breakfast, I think that the French even dunk them into the coffee before biting, and the Italians ( I have an Italian relative) make a point of calling at a bakery for a large bag of such things if they are going to someone's home on a Sunday morning, which seems like a very good idea to me.
