Monsavon - Bol à Raser

To be honest......the only soaps I have ever finished have been Monsavon and MWF.Covid willing I will be having a staycation for a week starting Saturday.....and I always use Monsavon on holiday. It's a flashback to my first ever French Camping holiday a few years ago. Every time I am back in France........I just clear the shelves!. I am still working my way through the Sara Lee owned stuff.

After reading this thread and becoming enabled, I looked into getting some Monsavon from across the pond. Soon found the shipping makes it not such a bargain anymore. Think I'll wait till I am in Europe again to pick some up. Might be a while though with this pandemic.

That's such a shame. I suppose it's somewhat similar to Stirling, very cheap in America but more pricey here.

Sadly even if one of us sent you some it'd be $20 for postage.

Yea, I realise that and was not trolling for anything. Just making a comment how shipping/postage can make something much less of a bargain. That is where the loss of free shipping with a minimum order really is felt.

I never suggested you were. Sadly you are in the position most of the members here find themselves in when they need a new U.S Artisan offering. Thank goodness for Maggards.

I believe you are located in Canada (Terre de nos aïeux), if you are not in a hurry (give me a few weeks/months), I could probably send you a flatten Monsavon* sample (a bit less than 100g in a plastic bag/ziplock) in an envelope. Of course you will not get the container, but there is nothing to write home about, trust me.

* it's a croap, if dried it would become even lighter.

Thank you very much for your kind and generous offer especially considering the pandemic but I can wait till I am able to get back to Europe for a visit.

Sorry if I misunderstood. Yes, I hope Maggards can still offer reasonable shipping after the changes to international postage regulations that I read about in a different thread on here.

Having sussed a new and more practical home for the Monsavon I thought I would share this pic prior to using it with a big floppy BLK12. As you can see - LOADS of room considering the size of this brush. A couple of swirls and the brush had plenty for a three pass shave and a good squelch left over in the bristles for a final face wash. Mmmm. Nice.

This stuff never ceases to amaze me. The post shave feel is so good. Just had an outing with this using the Model T ramped up to 5 and a third use Nacet. The 1st pass was enough to go out for the night but, as we do, I went the full hog for a BBS ending. It is like this gear sucks the razor to the skin...... and to think that some of you can get this for 79p a tub. Like @Wayne , I am a complete convert. I will still use other soaps as I like different scents but there are some on the shelf that will be going as 'shower fodder'.

edit - should add - no need for any balm etc after using this.
