I keep it simple. After a rinse of leftover lather, I use an alum block. I tried Thayer's Rose and Dickenson witch hazels but didn't like the underlying scent of witch hazel and for me, anyway, the alum works better. After rinsing my razor and brush, I rinse off the alum. I follow that with some sort of balm, usually a couple drops of GFT skin food (I have all three) and either a few drops of Oil of Olay or Lubriderm 3-in-1, both unscented. I also have my own homemade concoction which is mostly Corn Huskers (don't know if that's available in the UK), mixed with some leftover GFT Lime skin food, and two sample vials of T&H WI Lime cologne. Works great and smells great. I'd market it but it's just a blend of three other company's products.
And when I'm feeling old school, I use a little of my vintage Old Spice. Sometimes straight up but usually a couple drops mixed with one of the two unscented creams listed above. Also, I've been enjoying going through some samples of aftershave balm from T&H. Great stuff but spendy.
