I like the sounds of that. Definitely don't want to learn it, and then find I've forgotten it all after a month or two.I’m also impressed with how much muscle memory I’ve retained. I don’t think I’ve used my SS for at least 6 months.
Thanks @Snuff, useful to have the benefit of people's experience.Been shaving my head and face with these razors for many years and for me all guarded and light versions of all brands of blades are out, just can’t get good shaves with them. It’s all practice, same as with a straight. Favorite blades here are feather pro and super pro, Kai mild and Schick pro

Yep- that’s where I want to get too.Been shaving my head and face with these razors for many years and for me all guarded and light versions of all brands of blades are out, just can’t get good shaves with them. This has always been an issue when comparing Feather and Kai razors against the cheaper clones. I’ve put new scales on different versions and although the quality difference is evident, it doesn’t seem to make any difference to the way they shave. The most important factor is that the blade is seated properly and has an even expose along its length. From what I could see, the cheaper types seem to achieve this as well as the expensive ones - therefore you’re paying for aesthetics and quality of materials. Exactly the same as buying an upmarket SS razor rather than a basic Gillette - you get the same shave at a different price.Any idea why the DX is more than twice the price of the SS?
Wait, what? Why? Your eyelashes?... I even use it to shave the hairs of my eyelids, you just need to learn the ultra soft touch like in this video...
Have only read the first post here and felt the need to say this: You clearly don’t have a nearly two and a nearly six year old stuck inside with you... My focus and attention to anything is virtually nil. (Or you’re just a much better man than I, which may very well be the case. Or just more structured.) That aside, looking forward to reading more and following your Feather journey, Simon.Whilst we're in isolation during coronavirus, I decided to try to learn how to shave with the Feather Artist Club. I'm doing videoconferences reasonably regularly, but it's still probably less of a problem if I cut my face, so I figured this was a really good opportunity.
So far, this is my progress...
Saturday - 3-pass shave with Feather Proguard in Feather SS, using a DE for the moustache area and end of chin - no cuts, patchy shave
Sunday - 3-pass shave with Feather Proguard in Feather DX, using a DE for the moustache area and end of chin - no cuts, patchy shave
Monday - 3-pass shave with Feather Professional in Feather SS, using a DE for the moustache area only - no cuts! shave was less patchy
Tuesday - Feather Professional in Feather SS - something went horribly wrong and I had to switch to a DE after 2 passes - several cuts, obviously too confident
So I'm trying to work out the right strategy for tomorrow. I think I'm going to stick to the Feather SS for now, but not sure whether to keep persevering with the Professional blade. I felt like the Proguard wasn't teaching me anything, and the Professional is definitely less tuggy.
Haha, you're right, I don't. Mine are 16 and 11.Have only read the first post here and felt the need to say this: You clearly don’t have a nearly two and a nearly six year old stuck inside with you...
