I used the Era L4 SB for 6 weeks continuously until a fortnight ago. The YMMV caveat of course applies, but if push came to shove, I could probably use this razor and no other. It coped with opposite ends of the growth scale i.e. daily shaving and 4 days of wiry stubble, admirably. Efficient, but comfortable to use and it only bites if you make it. Whilst the Era could potentially be viewed as 'industrial' in terms of looks, don't let that put you off. Likewise shipping direct from the US, whilst not ideal, is relatively pain free.

Whilst there may be a little bias as I lean towards DE blades at the sharper end of the scale, the Era doesn't appear to be blade sensitive as all of the following performed as expected:
  • Personna Lab Blue - USA
  • Kai - Japan
  • NOS Gillette Super Silver - UK
  • NOS Wilkinson Sword 'New' - UK
  • Gillette Minora Stainless - Russia
  • Gillette Super Bue - China
  • Elios (Lord) - Egypt
For reference my main go to razors before acquiring the Era were the Karve C SB and Gamechanger .84 SB

Had my first shave today with the L5 SB and was very impressed. It mowed through 5 days of growth in 2 passes using a Gillette Winner Platinum blade. I have thick facial hair and I'd purposefully let it grow a bit for my first shave with the Era and it didn't disappoint.

This may be a case of recency bias but to me it felt quite similar to the Karve Overlander in terms of efficency and shaving angle. The L5 does have more blade feel and a little bit of a bitey edge compared to the Karve. I didn't nick myself at all during the shave but I could definetly feel it was a bit more aggressive compared to the Overlander.

Very happy with the purchase so far.

Any chance it’ll be available in the U.K.?
I really didn’t think I needed another razor but 3d printed stainless is amazing

It won't be available at retailers for now - and possibly won't be in the future, either. In recent months we've shifted our business model to be only direct-to-consumer. This is technically a temporary pause in our wholesale business, but there's no timeline for reinstating it. The good news is that international shipping has largely stabilized, especially to the UK and western Europe more broadly.
