I wanted something not too challenging or heavy and I remember reading these years ago as a teenager. I'm about a 1/3 of the way through and they haven't disappointed at all.
...the quantity of alcohol Bond consumes is astounding!; I read that Flemming was in fact detailing his own drinking habits...1/2 a caraffe of vodka at lunch, cocktails before dinner and almost continous drinking after dinner phew! I also love how much butter he loved in his scrambled eggs. Flemming died young...if indeed the drinking and eating habits he gave Bond were his own, I can only guess it was not entirely good for one's health...also loved the books, he is so much colder, harder, emotionally detached, more calculating than in the films...

Don't judge , but I'm reading the Harry Potter books. The way things are with the lock-down I just felt the need for a little magic
Not a problem for me. I read them all more or less as they came out. Then some years later, started at the beginning again. Only have the final one left, Deathly Hallows, to go.

They're a good read.

I have never been into true crime or even fictional crime novels, but I have been reading more non-fiction recently and thought that perhaps this was a genre to check out. So, I did some Googling and came up with a few titles that are classics in the genre and were cheap on Kindle. I am currently reading this, which I went into completely blind, knowing nothing about the case.

All I can say is, "Damn!" It manages to be terrifying and saddening at the same time. Not a fun read and yet it is a page turner. More chilling than any 'horror' story I ever encountered. I guess that I would recommend it...but I wouldn't say it was 'enjoyable'.

I have also been reading Casino Royale at the same time for some light relief. My first Bond novel and it's interesting to see the difference between modern Bond and the guy in the book. I will have to go back and watch the original Casino Royale movie when I have finished.

Hard going but gripping. A real indictment of how Thatcher and the Tories dumped on working class communities in 1980s. It also reminded me unpleasantly of what it's like to live with an alcoholic when I was a young boy.

I’m keeping this next to the bed with The Art of War. Both are relaxing to me. I don’t know why but they make me feel at home, like I wrote em or something. No, I’m a plain white dude from Detroit living in Houston TX. Do I believe in past lives??? Maybe I should.
