I am currently hesitating over starting to read Ulysses (in English). It's like preparing an expedition (you need a guide/companion book, reading The Odyssey and Joyce's previous books, among many other things).
I began to read in French many years ago when I was 18-twentish, but I stopped after about 250 pages (that's too bad, it's supposed to be easier after the 3 first chapters), because the story did not make much sense...
Anyone who managed to read this masterpiece?

I have read about how the book should be read. Then it occurred to me that I would rather read a book I can read as a book and not some sort of conquest. Also that chapter towards the end which has no punctuation seemd a bit self indulgent. Supposedly representing stream of consciousness ... I am quite sure I think with full stops.

I read Finnegans Wake decades ago and I cannot remember a bit of it ... another reason why I have left the Ulysses alone.

The humor is back. Only on page 98 and Stephanie is on her 3rd car. Favorite was Grandma Mazur at protest with sign "BINGO MATTERS".
