Walter Benjamin's "Charles Baudelaire: A Lyric Poet in the Era of High Capitalism". Observations of late 19C Paris and an insightful, sustained, generous critique of modernity. Astonishing and profound.

I've been reading this for quite while. I had not picked it up in several months until this past weekend when I went up to the Adirondacks for some clear my head time. Got into it again and should probably finish it in the next few days. Some great, although disconcerting, stories in there. My time in the Adirondacks have taught me humility and to respect mother nature's wrath.

I’m sure I’ve read most of them but I thought I’d buy this set and work my why through. I was reminded how much I enjoyed reading Day of the Jackal when he passed yesterday
Hmmm I finished the Kill List first and I think I must have been about 14 when I read Day of the Jackal - as I found The Kill List quite childish in style. However the Fourth Protocol is fairing much better.
