Another shave this time with the 0.69mm plate as I just wanted a safe easy shave. And it delivered with supreme smoothness and comfort. This is very much like the 0.68 Gamechanger. A very decent shave that never felt it was going to bite, I doubt you could cut yourself with this!
Another nice plate that would suit anyone looking for an efficient, safe and smooth daily shaver.

I also used the soap sample: Simply rubbed the little block onto my face and face lathered away, Now initially, prior to lathering, I did get a teeny bit of tingle on my face, but this disappeared as soon as I added water... The lather was very thick and had lots of glide. The scent was nicely weighted, and compliments the sample aftershave very nicely. I can still smell it on my hands now - an hour after the shave. I am terrible at describing scents, so I asked my daughter. It smells of "Forests" with mint and or eucalyptus. The AS, is similar but has some "spice", cinnamon, clove or something. I really like them and would certainly buy if the are available.

@Rowlers Lee so the .118 is not Uber aggressive, is it more efficient than a Rockwell 6 plate?
No I don't think it is crazy aggressive; it is well judged IMO, efficient enough for 90% of wet shavers. Although make no mistake it would probably bite with a lack of concentration! I personally, would not want a more aggressive plate, but I'm sure there are those out there that would! Very similar to the Rockwell #6, maybe a touch more blade feel?

A five pass shave tonight using a combination of various razors with a new Voskhod blade has led me to conclude the following:

1). 0.69 Baseplate.

This is definitely a mild plate and is very much on a par with a Karve A plate and a Rockwell 6S no.2 plate. It is milder (but noticeably smoother) than an ATT M1 plate and is not as smooth as the Karve, but is smoother than the Rockwell (which has some noticeable drag).

2). 0.90 Baseplate

I’m struggling more than I thought I would with this plate. I’d rate it as being equivalent to a Karve D plate (with very similar face feel) and between a Rockwell 3 and 4 plate. It is more efficient than an ATT R1 but the R1 shaves better.

3). 1.18 Baseplate

This has been the biggest surprise for me and has turned out to be the jewel in the crown. I would liken this baseplate to a Timeless 0.95. It’s smoother and more efficient than the 0.90 baseplate and out of the SB plates this is definitely the one I found worked best for me (to the extent that I can see a purchase looming later in the week come payday).

I’ll compare the OC plate to a Gamechanger 0.84 OC, GC Jaws and an ATT M2 on Wednesday evening along with a headshave with the 1.18 plate and will report back accordingly.

Brilliant writeup and comparison ... it may well be that I'll be better sticking with the Karve so may have a set for sale after testing - I certainly can't use a D plate equivalent and the 0.69 may be too little

With two days' growth, I used the razor for the first time, this morning, 0.90 SB plate and a new Wizamet Iridium Super.
First pass, WTG was a little tuggy and unexpected. It wasn't that comfortable and not as smooth as I was hoping for, based upon other reviews. It was, however, very efficient. Second pass, XTG, on the other hand, was extremely smooth. A touch up on the neck and I'd say efficiency is just below a Timeless 0.95, the razor it seems to be being most compared with.
Tomorrow, I'll use the 1.18.

May well be the same for me when my razor arrives. I was hoping for something smooth in the region of the GC 0.84 / Karve C from the 0.90 SB plate

Fourth Shave this time with the 0.9mm plate. Still a very good shave. I need to revisit this plate in a couple of days, as I rushed the shave (wanted to get watching the last episode of The Capture!)
Smooth and efficient and in the same ball park as the Carbon and Tatara Nodachi I'd say...

Today I received top cap and base plates of 0.69 and 0.90. I was impatient and made the first barber with 0.69 plate, Voskhod blade and an Ikon bulldog handle. I used 3 passes and everything was smooth, pleasant and comfortable although I rushed a bit and the handle was hard. The first impression is that it is the smoothest barber that I have had so far and is more pleasant than Mamba 70, Game Changer 68 and Tatara Masamune.
