Homelike Start DE Razor

Hello gents, I'd like to thank you all for referring me to Morr. I found my Holy Grail razor. Yesterday afternoon first shave with Nordic Shaving Pine Menthol soap, excellent performance, very smooth and protective with my hard water (45°).
I used the 0.69 plate for half face and 0.90 for the other half with a Gillette Platinum on second use. I paired the Start with Razorock Ufo handle, the balance seemed perfect to me.
0.69 Two passes WTG and one pass XTG, similar to the GC 68 but more efficient and smoother.
0.90 One pass WTG and one XTG, it mowed 3 days of growth without any effort. No problem finding the angle of attack. This morning the left side has a slight regrowth, the right side is completely smooth. I am really excited about this razor. I'm also waiting for a stainless steel Karve but it was probably a superfluous purchase, I'm essentially monogamous with razors. We'll see.

I'm using my Start at the moment, excellent razor. I think the .90 SB plate is my favourite, the OC is fantastic on a few days' growth but needs more attention.

Still a very capable and excellent shaving platform is the START razor from HomelikeShaving. This evening I went with the 1.18 base plate with a twice used Gillette Yellow. A super smooth finish on both face & neck that left a no question BBS on my final face feel inspection. Superb razor geometry that gives instant feedback yet still is fantastic on being gentle on the skin. HomelikeShaving really did their homework with the START. Exceptional quality, craftsmanship and final product execution that rivals some of the best in the business. Very little talk on this razor with everything else out there but, this is no slouch in the performance oriented razor arena. It’s a gamer….

The 1.18 is my favourite plate,I've taken the Start on holiday with me and I'm really getting some excellent shaves with it,I will definitely put it into more regular use when I return home.

I currently hold the OC .90 and rarely use it because of its super mild nature. This moved me to order both 1.18 baseplates and of course they should have been here weeks ago. They disappeared a few weeks ago in New York. Maybe I’ll still live here when they show up???

Yes, I know. This razor is halfway around the world and mostly out of stock. But, I can’t reiterate enough how effective this shave kit is. The set covers practically the whole range from mild to nicely efficient and aggressive but, still maintaining an easy on the skin quality about it. I said very early when I first started out with the Start kit that it was a superbly crafted razor kit and one of the best made in contemporary times. I still believe that and more so now. Value, craftsmanship, quality alloy and top notch shave prowess. Arguably the best razor kit that no one seems to really talk about. Shame as it really is a magnificent creation…..

There are always exceptions to every subject. Unfortunately, not everyone is gifted or talented enough to reap the full benefit of a particular product, in this case a measly shaving tool. Not everyone is perfect yet, we still make space for them and still honor/respect their opinions, thoughts or experiences. Even if it’s a bit jaded or off kilter. Just my thoughts that don’t really matter much except vainly, to myself. But, I’m a Hooligan & Shaving Vagabond of the highest order. I like throwing poop in the game. I’m a Yank. Shouldn’t expect anything less…..

First time out for me with the 1.18 plate Start Razor and have to say in terms of smoothness it's better than both my lupo 0.95 dc and the Jaws .84. Efficiency is a different matter entirely though in my opinion (YMMV) it lacks blade feel for the 1.18 gap and a bit more blade exposure wouldn't be a bad thing as while it was efficient on my head shave I found it hard to keep the sweet spot resulting in a few more passes than usual. This could well be down to not being used the razor yet and I'm not knocking it at all as the finish was BBS and very comfortable it just took a few more passes than I'm used to with my Lupo DC. Great razor for the money though and one that will definitely stay in rotation.
