Heritage just posted on their IG account (yesterday evening) that the production razors were just shipped out of China and should be in his hands within 8-10 days. He will then process orders in the order they were placed and get them shipped out to customers in the quickest fashion possible.

Looking forward to this creation.:okay:

All chrome short handled version. Decent weight, with good overall balance, still feels biased towards the head in my hands. First shave was actually quite nice with a fresh Bic Chrome Platinum. Shaved with it on 6 then 4 as the N is 3 but, is the lowest setting on the razor. At least on my sample. The movement is very nice and smooth throughout its whole range and it opens up to a pretty nice gap coming round to the 4 (technically a 7, maybe 8?) setting at almost a full turn and a slight bit extra. A nice 2.5 pass shave that was quite good. Greenfresh brought the suds for extreme comfort & glide. Not bad, not bad at all on its first shave. More to come….

Shave two with the same Bic Chrome Platinum and just as easy and smooth as yesterday’s. Went with setting 6 for the whole shave and it was mild yet still efficient enough for a full days worth of whisker growth. Felt better in the hands on this second go around with good tactile feel. No worries at all with this razor slipping out of the hands due to wet hands or lather running everywhere. Two shaves in and I consider myself pleasantly surprised at the quality of shaves and the actual build and ease of use of the razor.

On a side note, the numbering system could be out of whack as the assembly can be set up wrong as a good shave buddy of mine over on another forum contacted Neil over at Heritage and there can be issues with proper number alignment with the razor. Seems that some razors could have been assembled wrong and might not give a full account on proper gap size adjustment. There is a video I believe somewhere on YouTube that might address this issue though, I personally have not gone looking for it. I might look into it once I‘ve got a few more shaves in but, so far I have no issues with the razor starting at the N (1) position and moving through the adjuster dial with a somewhat out of order numbering system. I can see though where some can take issue with this inconvenience and rightfully so. I’m not going to harp on it much though as it seems to me to be an easy fix.

Great shaves to all….

What's this razor made of?

Is it chrome plated brass as in all brass and chrome plated? No, it clearly isn't. The handle is brass and aluminum. Not a problem.

Sounds like maybe the head or part of the head are zamac? Aluminum, zinc, brass alloy? Is that zamac? I think so.

What is the diameter of the handle?

How is the low end (lowest setting)? Particular when going ATG on a sensitive area. I'm thinking about my upper lip. The Russian Taiga does a very nice job for me on its lowest setting in that area; I believe it's another Gibbs clone.

How does it compare to the Chinese razor called The Final Cut? Similar? Dissimilar? Shaves are much the same? I'm not wild about the shave of TFC, but it's not bad.

Yeah, I get it's not a $200 razor, but then neither is the all brass chrome plated Fatip.

Thanks in advance.

Happy shaves,

Jim

There are actually more similarities between the Heritage Gibbs Replica & the Yaqi TFC adjustables than I thought. I brought both of these out for today’s shave just to see how both would fair and on how close they shave relative to one another. I can’t tell you precisely how they each feel against the OG Gibbs as it has been a while since I’ve shaved with one but, I‘ve contacted a shave bro-ham of mine to see if I can borrow one of his Gibbs to do a full on comparison.

Tale of the tape.

Heritage Gibbs Replica.

Weight of the Heritage Gibbs: 77 grams-2.7 oz. (+/- 3 grams)
Overall closed length of the Heritage Gibbs: Approximately 3 5/16” or 84mm

Physically they are remarkably similar in both weight and length. The Heritage has to my eye a closer resemblance to the Original Gibbs with its handle style and overall looks. Balance and feel are just about neck and neck and it can go either way. Just depends on what one likes aesthetically better and what actually feels better in hand. They both offer very good tactile feel with the TFC getting just the slight edge with its decent knurling over the vertical lines on the Heritage. Like i said, its minor and it can go either way. The numbering and markings are much easier to identify on the Heritage model and is much easier on the eyes when dialing in and attaining your desired number setting. Both move with ease and stay put pretty much throughout the whole shave. Can one inadvertently move the dial during the shave? Yes, it can happen without one realizing it but, if your conscientious of it I don’t see that being much of an issue unless one has to have their fingers precisely on the dial while shaving.

Both shaved very similar getting me a BBS finish in 2.5 passes on each side. Blade feel was almost equal though I did perceive a tiny bit more of blade feel from the TFC. It wasn’t much but, it was perceptible on my skin. However, the Heritage felt slightly smoother while still exhibiting really nice cutting prowess and efficiency that was equal to the TFC. Both felt really great on WTG, ATG, & XTG passes with ease of use especially around the corners of the stache, Adam’s Apple & buff work on the chin.

Upon final rinse, alum pass (no irritation, discomfort or heat to speak of) and a quick aftershave splash, just a first class BBS finish. They both worked tremendously well for the overall cost of each, $42 including shipping for the TFC & $55 shipping included for the Heritage Gibbs. Outstanding value for what these both bring to the table.

I can’t and won’t say which of the two I prefer because I actually like them both equally. If I were to pick which of the two razors seems closer to the Legendary Gibbs Reglable, I’d lean more towards the Heritage model. Again, once I receive an Original Gibbs I can say with more clarity and be more definitive on comparing all 3 models. More shaves to follow.

Today was an excellent shave, period. Great shaves to all….

An excellent shave this evening with the Heritage Gibbs Replica. Hadn’t used it in some time and went back to it with a twice used Bic Chrome Platinum. Super smooth and delightfully efficient in a 2.5 pass shave. I won’t go into details about every facet of the shave. I will solely say that the razor shaved exceptionally well with minimal effort on my part. It’s a wonderful little shaver that allows great maneuverability at every stage of the shave process. It’s nearly identical to the famed Legend it was designed after if not better.

Get your hands on one gents (whenever they become available). It really is worth it as one can experience what the iconic Gibbs brought to the table over half a century back without having to scour the auction sites and more importantly getting raked over hot coals in spending the cash to acquire one. The Gibbs was ahead of its time and the Heritage allows a shaver to experience that identical performance of the original for a much lesser price of entry.

Totally worth it. And no modifying blades neither. Win, win. Great shaves to all…

Totally agree, I purchased the Heritage Adjustable Black Annodized razor during the preorder - fixed the initial problem with the dial adjustment without any issues. I've shaved with the razor twice and would agree with what Str8Mug said in his earlier post. Fantastic razor for the price. It will most likely show up in a SOTD posting soon.

Went for a second straight day shaving with the Heritage Gibbs. Again, just another great shave and not a single negative to speak of about this little razors performance. Just drop in your favorite blade and whip up your favorite lather. Easy, smooth & efficient feeling shaves is all I’ve experienced in practically every shave. If the all brass version comes to fruition (just rumor for now), I’m all in. I don’t care where it’s made, the folks or gent at Heritage did their homework and went through hoops to bring this replica of a classic razor to fruition. And at a very reasonable price when one considers today’s economic picture. Home run for Heritage and I have no issues in backing any future project or endeavors they plan to bring in the shave landscape for hard goods.

It’s a keeper. Just in case I failed to mention it….

Started 2023 with a smashing shave that the Heritage Gibbs delivered. So far it has given me outstanding shaves with the limited blades that I’ve run through it with the Bic Chrome Platinum, Gillette Platinum (Blue & White tucks), Gillette Minora & surprisingly the Lord Platinum have given a good account.

Happy 2023 to all and if you’re looking for a Gibbs Razor but, can’t seem to find one that is affordable & available, the Heritage Gibbs Replica is seriously worth considering. Again, no blade mods neither.
