400 Blows - made in 1959, the story of a disaffected young boy being failed by his parents/life. great to watch with lots of fun moments in it too

I'm with you on this one. It's a great if disturbing film. European cinema at its best is cerebral as well as being great entertainment. A Hollywood formulaic 3 Act romp is great when in the mood but I love Arthouse.

Anyone mentioned Cinema Paradiso? That is fantastic too. Biggest surprize for me recently was watching "In Bruges." It doesn't know if it is a comedy or a thriller but it is s fun watch with some great lines.

I quite enjoyed it, although I think there were lumps missing compared to the book. Maybe there'll be a longer cut. 7/10

Sully (2016) - Tom Hanks plays Chesley Sullenberger who in 2009 successfully landed an airliner on the Hudson River after losing both engines to birdstrikes. Even though, rather like Apollo 13, anyone who saw the news knows how it ultimately turned out and that the whole incident in real life only lasted for just over three minutes it's well worth watching.

Watched that yesterday afternoon, even though I knew what happened and had watched it on Air Crash Investigation the film still showed more.

Went to see "The Accountant" - Ben Affleck is in the leading role - at the weekend. Best film I've seen all year - decent enough acting, but absolutely brilliant story.
